You call that Imagination

This against the teams that defend if they are really bad swap walker for Holtby and move him in the middle or for Dembele.

Soldado
Townsend ----------- Lamela

Eriksen Dembele Paulinho Walker

Vertonghen Capoue Kaboul

Lloris
Then we take the lead and we go 433

Soldado
Townsend ----------- Lamela

Eriksen Dembele Paulinho

Vertonghen Capoue Kaboul Walker

Lloris
Then we defend the lead and take off of the midfield 3 for Rose or Sandro and Have Sandro or Capoue as the holding DM
After watching Dembele and paul against West Ham and Newcastle.
You call that imagination?
Some would call it suicide.

I would love to see Lamela on the right, Eriksen centre, Townsend left and Holtby alongside ether Sandro or Capoue in the centre for a extended run of games in the PL. Wont happen tho, every week we write our ideal line ups and every week AVB seems to choose the most unimaginative option. Think i might stop writing my ideal team down, every week i end up frustrated and despondent with what we actually play.

So, you mean, you're annoyed that AVB doesn't use SC to inform his formation and tactics?

How very ignorant of him.

yes, thats exactly what i mean, i thought all Spurs managers after getting their badges have to pass an SC test where ultimately we decide whether or not they are suitable to lead our great club. Part of us granting him the post of head coach is that he constantly checks his tactics with us... clearly AVB has forgotten about this part of his contract.

So everyone has their own ideas on how we should line up including some bizarre formations that no top teams play just so your favourite players can all be shoe horned in. I might not be sold on AVB but I'm glad some of you guys aren't in charge! :D

I thought having this big squad meant that we could make changes to suit us in different situations. With City coming up I'd guess we shouldn't be looking for some cavalier performance with 2 strikers, 2 wingers and an attacking midfielder.

Best 11? That'll probably change throughout the season if there is one at all. The big problem at the moment for me is that we don't have much going for us on the left. Vertonghen's improved our width there but we don't have any cohesion on that side like we have on the right with the Lennon/Walker and Townsend/Walker partnerships that both work well. Maybe moving Townsend out to the left to provide some natural width is the answer, I'd certainly like to see it tried and with City coming up I'd rather Lennon got a game on the right. Maybe Lamela is the second coming like some of you think but whilst I'd like to see him more I don't think away against a top side is the kind of game to start him in. It's worth bearing in mind also that Lamela's performance in the Europa League doesn't mean that he just walks into the team, especially as Townsend has actually started the season well. Holtby also tore apart teams in the Europa League and Defoe has been pretty deadly in the competition too, I have yet to see the same appeals for them to "start every Premier League game", or whatever.

Too many people on here playing FM/FIFA or just plain getting carried away for me.

None of you lot have any imagination. Always with the 4-2-3-1.

Lloris
Chiriches -- Kaboul -- Vertonghen
Walker --------- Sandro ------------- Rose
Paulinho ------ Eriksen
Lamela----Soldado

3-5-2, that's what I'm talking about. Anchorman in Sandro, box-to-box in Paulinho and advanced playmaker in Eriksen, all the ingredients needed in a midfield 3. Lamela playing off Soldado to give him support and add a bit more flair up front. Walker and Rose bombing down the wings using their energy to get back and forth. Chiriches and Vertonghen as the 2 technically gifted centre backs with a beastly stopper in Kaboul in between them.

Sorted.

bring hoddle back and we might just see it :giggle:

Lennon played against sherrif, looked great yeah? so why should he just walk in to the team?
Townsend has 0 assists in the epl, and one goal.
Yeah hes on fire mate.
Lamela has more assists in one 15 minute cameo than Lennon and townsend have in there on fire season so far.
Your FM/FIFA beckons, see ya

Townsend started the season well but he has now been found out as a 1 trick pony. Defoe has shown match after match year after year that he cannot play as lone striker. And presumably Lamela is our record signing for a reason. I dont see Arsenal sticking Ozil on the bench unti he proves himself. And guess what ? And what have Dembele and Sigurdsson proved ? Enough to keep playing crap week after week and staying in the team. Has Soldado proved anything yet ? But apparently Lamela has to somehow justify himself in the Prem. A bit difficult when he is never selected... As for Defoe i think he's had a few chances to prove himself in the Prem this season and over the last God knows how many years.

Lennon didn't play in the home game against Sherriff and I didn't say Lennon walks into the team, not even close to it. I'd rather he played in the City game on the back of several good seasons for us and because he's always reliable in tracking back and doing the defensive work when needed. I even said I'd like to see Lamela playing more, I just don't think it's a game we should be starting him in.

I'm not going to argue with your stats, you're missing the point if you think I was basing my argument on stats. Townsend has clearly started the season well, you only have to have seen him play to realise that. Again, I didn't say his starting was set in stone, just that Lamela's performance against Sherriff doesn't necessarily mean he has to start like some think.

What does lamela need to do then?
Townsend clearly played for England well yeah.
He aint done alot in a spurs shirt.
Our defense is solid when sandro plays the holding role.
Our lack of creativity and goals are the issue.
Playing the same players is not the answer.
AVB aint changing the system any time soon.
So the personnel need changing.
Chad, erikson and lamela.
With Sandro and Capue holding the line against City. nuff said

Lamela needs to be patient. I'd like to see him start against United and if we're losing against City I'd be happy to see him come off the bench too. I want him to get more chances like everyone else but I'm not going to get carried away and make sweeping about him having to start every game or act like he's a way better option than Townsend or Lennon on the right.

Not sure why we need to make so many changes for an away game though. Our form is actually pretty good on the road and AVB's methods are working just fine. Ask City and Chelsea whether Villa, Cardiff and Everton away are easy games. Apart from Palace and Arsenal(our first 2 away games) we've actually played well, I thought, and whilst it might be a bit on the dull side I'll take the points however they come in those games. It's at home where we need to get our arses in gear and start scoring goals and getting reults.

They arent digs there opinions.
Im not calling them names.
Im not swearing and being abusive.

Saying people don't have a clue about football, their only knowledge about football is through computer games and their posts are criminal are digs.

Considering you have no grasp of the basics of the English language you really aren't in a position to question other people's intelligence.

Bit of friendly advice. Don't quote mods and argue with them. Accept them as our overlords and move on.
