I think it was a 'mental fatigue' thing rather than physical fitness that did us in the end. The pressure got to us.

And here was me expecting an I depth analysis on why we've 'crumbled'.

And while we have, I agree with the poster above that it's more mental than physical. The team are finally getting long breaks with chances to see there families during the week. Poch has shown that he knows how to handle the fitness of his players. He's proved that much. I just think now that the title race is over, two very influential players suddenly gone from the squad, and the mental drain over what has been a long old season, has started to show sadly two games to early.

Here is hoping they wake up for Newcastle.

I don't think we've looked tired at any point this season.

Leicester were just better than us.

This is our best season in 53 years. What's the point in nit-picking. Celebrate!

Interestingly we lost all our momentum and started dropping points when we got knocked out of the EL and FAC and only had to play once a week.

How exactly is it a crumble when we are going to finish at least 3rd this season, when everyone expected us to finish around 6th?

nonsense - we were physically so strong in those key games, not so long ago, against stoke and man u, as well as against chelsea

the draw with west brom was a tactical naff up and southampton can easily be put down to an emotional drop after the title race being over, and anyway southampton are a very good team who had beaten man city 4-2 the previous week.

so he can shut up

A point against Newcastle is enough to secure 2. place, no?

We let the chavs get to us,and then felt deflated after losing out on the title. Inexperience is why we missed out, I wouldn't say we crumbled.

Its a bit of both. Not just 1. The reason we fell away is both mental and physical but you cant discount the fact we have been chasing a 7pt lead for ages...Its not like it was going to be easy to make that up. What IS a revelation that should have been discussed though is why we have lost 20pts from winning positions this season..Thats what I am more interested in and want to know what Poch will be doing to ensure we aren't ever anywhere near the top of that stat league again.

But on this subject I do hope that if Poch didnt change his training methods to do less intensive training in the last few matches, that he changes that for next season. I reckon it would definitely help. As they say, its a marathon - not a sprint.

We'd still be 5 points behind Leicester with one to play even if we'd beat Chelsea and Soton.

We lost the league in August. But we also wouldn't have the team we have now without that forging period.

I know this guy, that is not personally, so I should say I know about this guy, and I take what he says very seriously. (It's not his fault that this "article" isn't delving deeper into the topic).
And he is absolute correct, for several seasons and with various teams, Pochettino gains considerably less points per game in April and May than in other months. I don't think it hurts us this season at all, with or without the "spring crumble" we would not have won the title. But it ties in with the point I'm presently trying to hammer in whenever I can: expand the most trusted core of players with 3 players who can fit right in, and IMO the problem will be gone.

mental pressure plays a big role imo
fuck leicester
we suddenly become the world's enemy due to this fucking "fairy tale"
they survived from several draws and our opponents say publicly that they want them to win it
even the posts were denying us at WBA
it's like pumping gas continuously to a balloon, and after the provocation of those chelski ****s, the balloon explodes
in China some spurs fans call the spurs family as "the knights of lilywhites", perhaps a knight really always end up with a tragic ending...

It was mental pressure, fuck all to do with being tired, these are young lads out there. Spurs were fighting everything, the media, tv, sky playing catchup on mondays, fellow players and managers, you name it it was against the lads, but you can be sure of one thing they will be stronger next season, and hopefully immune to the total bullshit thats said and done to them and the club.

Verheijen is an asshat.

If only we were more fresh, then the ball would have bounced in off the post three times against WBA instead of out. Whoop-de-doo.

wow, there's less meat in this article than a McDonald's cheeseburger.

Renowned? gobby on twitter, you mean.

And I think it's obvious that the stresses of the season would take over, BUT I think it wouldn't have been a problem if Leicester were losing and the title was getting closer and closer - instead, they didn't drop enough points and we kept playing after them so heads went down and the small knocks they'd play through became psychologically bigger.
