Yup too good to be true it’s like dybala all over again. We don’t make world class signings players or managersCompletely agree.
So ready for Mourinho...which is exactly why I'm expecting this to all somehow fall through tomorrow morning
To be fair they were incredibly impressive and entertainingWhere does this defensive bollox come from?
Were non of you old enough to remember his first Chelsea team FFS?
And have you not seen the football we have been playing for the last 9 months?
Na son is our 2nd best player and I think he’ll also thrive under Jose.He is arguably our second best player. I think Mourinho will like him, but his attitude will have to be right.
Just working on our latest transfer window, then that argument is flawed and given the fact we were also close to getting Dybala with serious intent, then one could rightly assume that Levy IS willing to now back his manager - However I'll caveat that with Levy's previous track record not being so great in that regard. I would say that spending potentially (Lo Celso not perm as things stand) upwards of £150m is backing the manager, would you not?If only for this reason, it can't be Jose. Although Levy promising funds is different to him actually delivering.
Worth noting here that we are are, on the latest results, the most profitable football club in the world. How much did he actually spend at say inter Milan was it really that much? And it’s not like he’ll have 0 money. Well have a few big wages off the bill and we are now in the stadium with the nfl deal in place etc etc our spending power will only increase in the coming years. Poch was manager through the tough times, now the purse strings will open they have no reason not to now, otherwise it’ll be levy that is out next.
Not getting behind a manager as decorated and as esteemed as Mourinho from the get go is beyond idiotic.
This is a defining appointment in our history and where the club's hierarchy want us to be.
I'm afraid he's leaving with Poch!Actually stunning how everyone has suddenly changed their tune on mourinho from when he was at United and Chelsea lol
Will try get behind him if it’s him but Jesus
I don't personally want someone like Mourinho "because they're available now", nor do I want to watch his football. As I said the other week, he might well win things, some/most fans might prioritise that over anything else and I can understand that, but I watch football for the match, the 90 mins, primarily for entertainment and to see 'good football' on the parameters that I measure it on. Even with a successful outcome (winning trophies), I cant separate that from the process (the 90 mins of football) of getting there. But that's just me........
I still wouldn't make a change yet, but if it does then a starting point, for me, would be to filter managers on who plays high press, high line, possession based, tactical football.
afaik he didn't spend a lot at all from memory, as was the case at Porto. Irrespective anyway as Klopp and Pep to name but a few have had to spend big to get success and for the latter, he was renowned for spending big money to get success, Klopp didn't until he got to Liverpool.
Yea it’s all media driven agenda and sensationalisation.sure Jose parks a bus usually away in a big game from time to time but he’s a pragmatic coach and does what’s needed to win but as I’ve said before :To be fair they were incredibly impressive and entertaining
Yeah but he'll be back. At least that's what I've heard.I thought Jesus left
I’m just saying if you went back a year or two you would’ve seen a lot of “would never want that prick near our club” or “ he epitomises everything wrong with Chelsea/United” etc
Great post mate, completly get your perspective on Jose if it’s him.So it's happened. And we have to think about the new manager now. This is what I said a few weeks back, and stand by it:
Not many agreed at the time, and wont now, but that is how I view football and what I watch it for - and be in doubt I want to win, but I also see football as art and to be done in a certain way. It's looking like Mourinho will take the reins, I hope he does well and proves me wrong and plays a style of football that I enjoy and appreciate, but I cant lie its not what I would do and not who I would choose.
What I am equally interested in is the wider picture of the football management of the club. As was being discussed in the Sporting Director thread the other day, we need to have a rethink on how the club is operating. It cant just be the first team coach and Levy trying to run the whole show. The coach should be 100% focused on the first team environment, not having to oversee scouting networks/setup and recruitment, the academy and youth development, playing styles and philosophies, medical departments, etc as well. And nor should Levy, his expertise is the business side of things. Get someone(s) in to manage the wider football operation and have a better structure in place going forward.
