One of the main reason's I'd want Paratici around (outside of talent evaluation) is that he seemed to be the one guy that Levy actually listened/deferred to.

Apologies if this has been asked previously but what do you see as his strengths and why do you think he's brilliant?
Great football knowledge. Is close to Paratici and has very good contacts in Europe especially in Italy and France.

Most importantly for me is that he is more than happy to go head to head with certain board members to the point he will tell them exactly how it is and how little they know. He then backs it up with irrefutable evidence.

He's no nonsense and exactly what we need imo, and If he doesn't get it I'd imagine that will certainly in part be down to some of the run ins he's had with the bean counters.

Based on this we could do A LOT WORSE (and probably will), than appointing the guy.

Sounds like he ticks a lot of the boxes. Seems to have built up a good relationship with Ange according to articles I’ve seen too. Odd thing is, if it’s an internal appointment, what would be the reason to delay, unless it’s perhaps to allow Munn to confirm it?

While I like the sound of this, my concern is that if there was an actual head to head, proper ding-dong battle of wills - would Levy back his board members over this guy.

Either way, despite all the moaning and groaning, our recent recruitment looks much better - not just in individual talent spotting which we've always done OK with, but actually creating a team. Next task will be to have an appropriate squad - be that youth players, old experienced heads, but ones that actually fit and can step in.

The future is bright.

Was thinking the same? Why need to delay? I’m also in the pro LG camp! Think continuing Paratici as a consultant will only help his further development into that role.

Wasnt he the one who got the Veliz deal done? Maybe has a good network in S America too.

Oh yes, my favourite type of worker. It makes my job so much easier working with people like this. :)

Just had a look at our incomings since Fab joined, and the only permanent transfer we've made that I would consider bad business is Spence. IMO the verdict is still out on Richarlison and Gil. Gollini, Danjuma, and Lenglet were loans, of varying success, but no major cost.

That's a really high success rate, I think.

Agree, although describing the loans as ‘varying success’ made me smile. Gollini was a disaster, Danjuma contributed to Conte going insane, and Lenglet was meh. So actually you’re quite right, the success varied from very little to utter disaster 😀

How was Gollini a disaster? Did he cost us the title?Did he get Covid, but came into work every day and infected the whole squad?

Disaster is quite a strong word, what am I missing (or possibly forgetting now that I'm getting on a bit!)

Was loaned in as a back-up so no way should he be considered a disaster.

Because he was really bad. Within the range of probable outcomes (which doesn’t include infecting the whole squad) he was about as bad as he could have been. People use terms like disaster in sporting discussions all the time, it doesn’t mean we are equating bad back up goalkeepers and earthquakes or tsunamis

Obviously it's up to you, but language is important - constant hyperbole when describing things diminishes the argument I think.

I thought he was average and that's not quite good enough for what we want to do, but never a disaster which implies some sort of catastrophe - even if only in footballing terms.

Agreed. Blatant hyperbole makes it difficult to take arguments seriously.

There was an article in the summer how he wants a DOF role and the club think they may lose him in the future if he’s offered one elsewhere. So if he doesn’t get it, it would be typical Tottenham for a bit of mayhem to ensue.
