Has to be a nailed on starter and somebody who's right in the thick of it. If Bentancur was fit I think he'd be good. In his absence I'd go with Bissouma.
I think Bissouma is too rash. We need a calm head who’ll be able to talk to the ref and calm players down when they’re getting too emotional.

Sonny is a shoe-in surely?

VC is way harder to call, especially after that presser. Could be a number of players.

Yea I saw that against Barca he was a little hot-headed, which made me think maybe too soon for him to be Captain.

Son, Maddison and Bentancur my picks for C and VC.

I don’t think Son is mature enough. And he has that hot headed petulant moment in him that comes out now and then.

Been thinking about this and I don't want it to be any of the old guard. This has got to be a fresh start and a complete mentality shift. I want the captain to reflect that. Bissouma, Madison, or Romero happy with any of them tbh. Madison would be my choice because of how well he communicates with the media.

Remember Beckham kicking Simeone? He was made Captain soon after and it changed him completely.

I'd have Bentancur or Maddison.
I can't see it as Bentancur - as he has been training by himself this pre-season. Not someone that Ange has had time to observe with the group.

I am also not convinced on Maddison as captain - it seems he spent a lot of time hanging on Kane's coattails during the pre-season trip. But, I have no idea what he was like in training, so maybe he was showing more leadership amongst the whole group in those sessions.

I understand the calls for Sonny - long time servant of the club, and extremely likable. I am just not certain that translates into leadership, and holding people accountable. But, he is one of the few people who I see interacting across the spectrum of Spurs players - which cuts in his favor.

Royal is another who seems to interact with everyone - but I am not sure he has the leadership to go with his outgoing personality.

I still like Bissouma, with Dier as an outside chance as a Henderson/Maguire non-playing captain type. Skippy might be another closet candidate as a non-starting club captain. Gaffer seems to really appreciate his attitude.

The good news is - we won't have to speculate after tomorrow (assuming it leaks).

Think it will be Maddison - the way Ange has talked about him, his experience at Leicester, the importance of his role, the fresh start aspect.

Ange is making this into his team, and with Kane gone, Maddison is a logical choice.

Bissouma for me. He is centre of everything pre-season, has set the example fitness wise and looks like firing this season. Would also be a change from the old guard and whatever player committee that we had.

Besides having to find the next captain, who I think will be Son, we also need to find the next penalty taker!

Son has a good relationship with Ange & has been one of our longest servants.
Can’t see him choosing anyone else tbh 🤔
