It honestly beggars belief that your brief is to design a shirt for a team that plays in purest white...and you barf that up. It's absolutely awful.

And what is that weird seam on the neck hoop?!

I remember how much I hated the 2016/17 kit on release, and then it gave us our best ever PL season.

I don't care what the kit looks like, if we win something in it it'll go down as an all-time great.

Genuinely have this theory that the worse the home kit, the better the season we end up having.

Lasagna gate for me 🤢😪
Guess that's the difference. I think back to Jenas free kick at Old Trafford and the good memories. I completely forgot lasagna gate was that season. But that was the kick start for us under Jol. Only good times for me.

Hardly a disaster but some trim aside, we have a white top. Why can't these companies quell their 'creative juices' and make a plan white shirt so often? Give us some stripey socks or something if you must simply scratch your design itch.

I don't mind the odd creative one to be honest. It at least gives more of a reason to bother buying a new one. 5 of the 7 previous Nike home shirts have been for the most part, just a plain white t-shirt.

I do agree that differences like stripy socks are a good alternative, as well as navy socks. Even a white stripe down the side of the shorts would add something a bit different. I guess the counter-argument to that is many will buy the shirt and not the rest of the kit, so that's where variation may be better suited. At least from a consumers perspective.

These 4 are really nice for example, but if I had one of them, I personally see little reason to buy any of the others.

I think they both look fine.

I’m more bothered by the fact that when we last had blue sleeves and a skin tight kit, I could actually fit into one.
Oh don't, someone donated the Under Armour seat-belt/tyre tread one to my charity shop the other day and the boss saved it for me.
It was a medium and I'm not a big guy, so I thought "sweet".
Anyway, I got home, put it on and gave it straight to my 16 year old son.

You remember The Generation Game when they'd get normal people to try and make sausages and they'd be all lumpy and uneven...?!

Very fair points. I had completely discounted the commercial aspect of design changes maybe driving higher sales. Makes a huge amount of sense.

I found the under armour Black and Grey kit the other day in a bag of clothes I’d put under the bed. Loved that kit but God knows how I ever fit into that.

The only old kits I've got that middle-age still let's me into are the old Pony and Adidas ones.
Mainly because they were massive but also because of my then fashion sense of baggy clothes.
I'm not even digging out my old Kappa shirts, they can stay in a box! 😭

Yeah I mean I can only speak for myself to be honest! I wouldn't be surprised if numbers showed that people will buy the shirts regardless. Sort of like how people will always buy the new iPhone even with the most minimal of changes. Although yes, you would guess that something that is in some way different enough to previous shirts would give people more of a reason to buy it :)
