Maybe he just bought one of the fake shirts?
sideways on coys:Friend of a friend has links to Nike through an academy, and got to see 'the' kit in the flesh last week. While apparently subject to final sign-off what he saw was basically what has been doing the rounds - white with a little navy at the collar and on the sides. He also mentioned yellow, but I didn't find out where that featured.
He was told the shield is still not 100% finalised, and that Nike themselves are pushing AIA to accept a navy logo.
Usual pinches of salt apply, but sounds promising.
If I was AIA I wouldn't give a toss what Nike wanted. I'm paying shitloads for sponsorship and I'd want my logo the way I wanted it.
I don't imagine Nike could put together some swanky presentation on sports branding in there lush Oregon campus for the AIA bods to convince them of the merits, but yeah seems doubtful. This - they paid their money they get their logo as they want it, not how Nike wants it.
As much as i'd prefer it navy, the logo being red hasn't bothered me much these past few years and with Thompson before that.
Not keen on the apparently imminent shield badge though - just personal preference again.

Surely if they were really really fussed about their logo colour, they would want it red on every kit. At the end of the day its not a picture logo, just 3 letters that look the same in any colourIf I was AIA I wouldn't give a toss what Nike wanted. Probably didn't stand out enough on the other shirts .I honestly can't see them not having the red logo on the white shirts no matter who tries to talk them out of it.Surely if they were really really fussed about their logo colour, they would want it red on every kit. What's that got to do about brand awareness?Tbh mate I doubt there is a lot you could teach AIA about brand awareness
The company is worth in excess of $170 billion.
THIS!
Don't know why this "shouldn't be red" debate happens EVERY season since AIA. Could you imagine Spurs sponsering a team and them expecting our logo to be red? Wouldn't happen. So why do people think/expect other companies to budge because of our dislike of the colour red. They are paying to slap their logo on our shirt... It won't be Navy
