New ITK...

Hi,

Have some pretty big ITK for you all.

Now I'm not a mod, or an admin or anything to do with with SC... just a member like you guys - but I kinda like the site. I don't like Stoof - but I quite like the site.

The ITK is that SC is in need of funds. A site like this that has 1000's of users a day accessing it in search of Spurs chat or the latest ITK news unfortunatley is not free to run.

It has bandwidth, server hosting, maintence costs attached.

Quite simply if it doesn't raise some funds the site could close down!

Also the likes of Rob and his team run this site for free... so not only does it have big costs attached but it takes time out of their lives aswell.

There are 2 simple ways in which you can help SC stay around, so you have somewhere to browse when you should be working or spending quality time with the missus:

1) You can click here to donate via paypal

2) Bookmark this link and next time you do any online shopping do it through one of these links

Oh.. and also for those that don't - come stick your head into the General Chat section and get even more value from SC!

I just tried to register a paypal account and verify my bank details so that I can make a donation to SC but the following message came up

Get Verified

That bank account is already assigned to another PayPal account. For security purposes, each bank account may only be assigned to one PayPal account. Please use a different bank account.

I know for sure that I have never opened a paypal account and on looking at my online bank account I don't notice any untoward payments coming out. I still smell a rat and will flush it out before it gets busy!

I know for sure that I have never opened a paypal account and on looking at my online bank account I don't notice any untoward payments coming out. I still smell a rat and will flush it out before it gets busy!

Ok so I called Paypal this morning who confirmed that my bank account had been registered to a hotmail account (Not mine) although no transactions had been made on it since it registered three months ago. Apparantly people steal bank info, open accounts then sell them in bulk. You'd think there would be sufficient security provisions in place...

Lucky I caught this before they raided my a/c.

Unfortunately this still means I do not have means of donating to SC as this fraud scare has put me off using Paypal even more. The intention was to open a paypal a/c so I could donate to SC. I'm glad this happened as I've saved myself a lot of bother later on.

Any other suggestions on how to make a donation would be helpful.

I think I'm right in saying that you can click the link and donate via debit/crdit card directly using paypal but without the need to actually have a paypal account, just as if you were buying from an online shop.

I believe BIP did this and a few others who don't have paypal accounts and it worked fine.
