Hi all;

I may be clutching at straws here but on the sky sports news app under the story about Dempsey it says that;

"there's no news yet on João Moutinho - but the deal still on the cards, with reports claiming Spurs have been granted an extension to complete the deal."

Is there any truth in this?

The thread was updated at 9:30 this morning as well!

Cheers,

SoSS

It's been suggested we asked for an extension (an hour) but that was refused, if that is really all it would have needed to get the deal done, Levy must feel a slight prat for leaving it for so long in the first place.

Whilst i think you are clutching mate, i do find it strange to not read more "Tottenham Fail with last ditch Moutinho bid" stories.

Sky haven't updated the Dempsey story since around 12am when this was the case.

It no longer is.

Dougal your sense of humour is so dark!!

Fellas, our midfield of Bale, Lennon, Dembele, Sig, Dempsey (Robert Downey Jnr) Sandro, Livermore and Parker is a wealth of talent and drive. They are more than enough for a top four club, let's get behind them and enjoy the ride.

Really hope so. Stranger things have happened. Remember Arsenal signing Arshavin on the next day.

What I don't get is; if we completed the deal 4 minutes after the deadline as has been reported, does that not mean he's still a Tottenham player but can't join us until January? Or is it the case that a deal completed too late is cancelled? Which doesn't make sense to me. It seems more likely that we didn't complete the deal at all.

Let AVB weave his magic with what he has on hand. We might end up saving 20+ million pounds for buying another big name striker the next window so long Levy doesn't cry broke.

I actually wish Spurs would put something out that the deal is off so we can avoid this.

AVB has already mentioned about it this morning saying they tried but it didnt happen:

“This has been a busy transfer window and I cannot praise highly enough the efforts the Club made to sign Joao Moutinho. I have said all along that this was never an easy transfer and as such we never had enormous expectations of getting this deal across the line.
