Mourinho criticises Ndombele for ‘never reaching the limit of effort’

Personally i think he can do the most damage playing higher up doing what he does best.

Nah I think he's wasted further forward, he's arguably the best press resistant player in the league and has a quick release out ball which if combined together could be deveststing, playing him in a deeper position gets the best out of him and its best for the team.

I'll admit though I don't think Jose is the coach to get it out of him but he will still need to learn more defensive skills regardless of where he's playing.

He's exceptionally talented but he he presents a tactical quandary to the manager. Sometime's it does seem as if he isn't giving 100% for the whole game, or he's blowing hard from the outset. This may be concern because ideally you want his skill set in one of the 2 deeper midfield roles. If you play him further forward to cover for that you have to take another attacking player out of the team when really you want them all. It's a fair point from Mourinho, and if Tanguy takes it the right way he could go on to be one of the best in the world. I don't see Pogba as a much better player than him.

Or alternatively, if you recognise Tanguy as the god of football that he is, but also that he isn't a high intensity/energetic player, then you build the team around him to maximise his talent.

Like a Riquelme, or a Hoddle.
building a team around a player rarely happens in football today no matter who the player is. The most Tanguy can expect to have is have a workhorse in midfield alongside him, but he still has to put a shift in, a bit like Mousa Dembele used to do.

He dominated the midfield, different players I know, but Tanguy is even more talented than Dembele, so I can see the frustration.

I agree , he seems to play in third gear . He could dominate games and doesn’t quite happen . Maybe he needs to play in the hole behind striker ... dunno .
Do you ever think it might not be possible with the players around him we don't have enough good ball players to many play safe side ways or just dribble the balance is just way off.

Maybe , but what has the other players passing choices got to do with TN own game ?
If they make space he finds them.
It could be that in a two he’s isolated.
I can’t put my finger on it at the moment. I just wanna see him dominate a game . There’sa couple of show reels a game . Is that enough ?
Does he get in to enough shooting opportunities for a midfielder?
Should play in the front 4 or 20 role?
I believe in him but guess I want to see more . Is that what Jose saying .
Pierre offers more in some respects and Tanguy has more ability on his ear lobes than him .

I think he's a luxury player. Yes great with the ball but when we dont have it you wouldnt even know he's on the pitch.
Just my onions. Prepared for neg ratings galore as thou shallt not speak badly of Ndombele on SC lol.
Another bad transfer record breaker added to the list imo.
Why are we so unbelievably shit at buying expensive players? Its shockingly consistent.

Lol

People want to jump on Jose for nothing. I get that he's done plenty wrong but this is nothing more than him praising his player but at the same time saying to him "You can be so much more".

The way Mourinho has us playing (intentionally or not) doesn't suit Ndombele one bit IMO. I'd like to see him drive forward with the ball a lot more but that would leave us too open in midfield. I'd much prefer it if we had him, Hojbjerg and GLC across the middle with Hojbjerg holding and TN and GLC taking turns at getting forward.

Like the boy.
One of the few really talented
players to grace the team recently.
Mourinho has form
on not being able to handle talent.
'Hoddle a luxury?
It's the bad players that are a luxury'
Thanks Danny B.
Keep Tanguy
Bin José.
Catchy eh!
Killing two threads with
one bon mot.
