It's come from platini himself, it wasn't which news outlet it was all of them

There is a review planned of classifications of football revenue, but nothing concrete and at the moment clubs are taking drastic measures to comply and have been hit with massive fines. This will be the case for the foreseeable.

I've made it clear that I am a cynic when it comes to reports that we'll spend heavily on individual players in transfer windows where we don't sell our prized assets. So losing out on Schneiderlin won't surprise me, as I never bought that we'd ever even come close to offering Southampton the money they'd want for him.

With that said, we better get a move on bringing in alternatives that can help us immediately, as the season starts on August 8th and there are 4 games this year before the end of the summer transfer window (more than usual). Furthermore, it's clear that EPL teams are flexing their financial muscle early this year, so the longer you wait now, the more likely it is secondary targets will get snapped up. Deals like we had for Van der Vaart, Eriksen, and Lloris probably may not have happened with today's television deals in place, as most teams can now engage in serious net spends without thinking twice about their balance sheets. Just look at West Ham signing a phenomenal player in Payet and Sunderland going for Wijnaldum.

There are lots of quality players still available out there. Cabaye, Song, Clasie, Imbula.... There's no excuse not to at least sign one of them.

My biggest fear is actually the following: Arsenal sign Schneiderlin-->Southampton sign Clasie; Inter sign Imbula-->Liverpool sign Kovacic. Someone mentioned McCarthy and Sissoko, but I think Everton and Newcastle would want huge fees later in the window for two players who probably aren't worth it and who have contracts until 2018 and 2019. That would leave us with who I think is the most Levy like central midfield signing late in the window: Steven N'Zonzi. His contract is running down with only one year left, he's currently on low wages, he's desperate to leave Stoke, and the only other Prem team interested in him so far is Leicester City, with Sevilla also interested, but apparently attempting to lowball Stoke. N'Zonzi isn't remotely what we need, but you can easily disperse a few talking points about how he was Stoke's player of the season, covered more ground than virtually any player in the EPL, and took center stage in two major victories for Stoke over Liverpool and Tottenham. If you look at his actual statistics, you'll see a player that passes the ball forward at a fairly marginal clip (far less than Mason and Bentaleb), isn't particularly creative (fewer key passes and chances created per 90 according Squawka than Dembele or Mason), and wins fewer tackles per 90 than Dembele, Mason, Paulinho, and Bentaleb. If you are looking for this season's genuine "Plan D," I think N'Zonzi's the guy. I'd feel much better if I saw him join the list of players JJetset rules out for us.

Let's hope it doesn't come to that, and we just sign Cabaye, who is exactly what we need next to Bentaleb.

Well if Sevilla get N'Zonzi they have a decent Polish fella we could go for?

Maybe all spurs-related threads around this time of year should start off with supplying the Samaritan's helpline, so many miserable mother fuckers around.

So is rating all of my posts d'oh because I have a different opinion. I'm not bothered though, I can take it.
Ratings? Have a look at mine and see how rarely I rate anyone negatively? If you want to pull me up on the ratings system then you should start to use it. So far you've received over 1000 positive votes and handed out four in return. Less than the 6 negatives you've given.

Did Imbula fuck your mum? Never seen someone dislike a potential new signing so much (apart from me with Salah, but that's understandable)
Grill me all you want. Wait until we get one of them and come talk to me when we're strugling to score against Leicester at home.

FFS, I've gone severely negative and pessimistic about Spurs/transfers in the last week and I have no idea why.

JJ's just said that its currently neither on nor off...

So the silence has been broken... I assume this means MS knows we want him and are willing to do a deal but we are his backup option. Interestingly MS has said he wants to resolve this soon. So we are biding our time and waiting for Arse or Man U to either make a bid or pull out. The price may be just too high for their needs.

Interestingly almost all media reports are leaving us out of the equation so it would be a massive coup, but that also highlights that we are an outsider.

We're waiting to see who he chooses. Once he's moved to Man Utd or Arsenal we will move onto plan F.

Ok so this probably isn't going to happen. What did you expect. There's richer teams out there who can offer a higher fee, wages and champions league. That's not our fault and those that thought we had a chance/still does are probably kidding ththemselves. But so what? Let's move on. I live Schneiderlin but there are other CMs out there
