This sucks if true. Someone mentioned UTD as a destination to replace Carrick, though I thought Gundogan was headed there this window. Possibly City if Toure is still throwing his toys out of the pram. Pity as this chap is real quality and has already played for our manager and been a success in doing so. Hurts, but we'll move on.

Just like Ozil swapped Madrid for them or Sanchez swapped barca for them.

Before you say the difference is that Vidal is key to Juve oppose to the others. Ozil was key to Madrid.

Plus the prem is a lot more appealing than the Italian league.

We have to face facts. The teams around us WILL strengthen with very good players. It will be depressing to an extent to watch. BUT we have to focus on our plan and implement this. We must continue to grow.

I have faith...for now

Only difference is Juve have a chance to do the treble (already done the double). And Vidal & Pogba are the bosses in CM. As a Juve fan I'd be pretty pissed if the sold either of them, but after seeing how they coped after Zidane, I'd not be a brat about it. As a Spurs fan, Vidal in the Arsenal would be horrid, fecking dreadful

Nope the sliding doors moment was Harry ballsing up 3rd and it not being Arse that were dumped out of the CL by Chelsea.
Oh absolutely, we certainly should have finished 3rd that season considering where we were placed, but ultimately, luck played a part as well.

Can't see Schneiderlin coming to us. Clearly they want loads of money and I doubt they'd sell to Pochettino either. What is the point of revamping our scouting system to then go and sign a player from Poch's old club...? Surely we will be trying to unearth a cheaper lesser known alternative.

Would Kevin Keegan love it if he came, if only to get one over on the South Coast Big Club fans that sees a move to Spurs as a sideways step.

We've had a somewhat shabby season (by recent standards) when it comes to points tally. We've done better than them in the cups and had European football to deal with. They, on the other side, have been playing out of their skins and been the subject of a pundit wankfest.

We've still been better than them.

I know that it's unlikely that he'll come to us, but I'll be really pissed off if he ends up at the trash from down the road. Or Citeh for that matter.

Prepare to be really pissed off Dean. This is not going to work out in our favour.

Fazio, Stambouli, Davies, Dier, Vorm, Yedlin, Alli, Wimmer, and likely Trippier. If the deal for Trippier is completed, those 9 players will constitute our most recent signings. Notice something about all of them? It's surely not a coincidence that the most outgoing money spent on any of these players was Fazio at 8 million pounds (Davies being a swap deal). Given all of this, there clearly are major spending restrictions that would make a signing like Schneiderlin impossible, even if he was somewhat interested in Spurs. Some of the other names people are mentioning also will be too expensive for us (McCarthy, Kondogbia, etc).

It's best for everyone to really scale back expectations for this summer. Maybe we'll get lucky and grab a few experienced players like Alex Song (counts as HG, too) and Mirallas, who are running down their contracts or are not needed at their current clubs.

McCarthy would surely be affordable if we could use Lennon as a softener? Realistically we'd be looking at what, £7mil for Lennon ? if you take that, add it to the supposed ceiling of £15mil for incomings during this window, surely we could afford McCarthy?

..And now we choose from option number 2, 3, 4 or 5 from the list as our number 1 target has basically said, "I'm out". Sound familiar?

It's the same old story for us yet again. Signing Schneiderlin would've been a perfect opportunity for the board to show everyone publically that they are backing Pochettino after all our recent transfer debacles of recent times. It'd surely have been worth paying slightly over the odds (fee, wages) to show that this particular leopard has finally changed it's spots and help avoid another all too familiar PR blunder. He's a player that the head coach has worked with, in his own system and is PL proven. Surely we've kept in close contact with Schneiderlin's representatives for the last year?

When was the last time ENIC bought a top quality PL proven player? Parker? It goes to show that Levy and co still haven't learnt from their mistakes - penny wise and pound foolish as ever. In the time where we've signed Stambouli, Holtby, Capoue, Paulinho we could've signed 1 midfielder with experience in our league first time around rather than reach for the 'chance' card. Our only hope now is that we manage to somehow unearth 2/3 hidden gems who've next played in the PL before, who manage to take the league by storm! Optimistic at best..

If you want to strengthen your odds of success, you pay the money rather than just hoping for the best, time and time again. I want our club run by people who show proper business acumen, and not by people who are prepared to gamble with the pride and prestige of our once great club by 'just hoping for the best'. This is a HUGE missed opportunity in my eyes to rights some wrongs from ENIC's point of view, and rather than just missing out on 1 transfer target symbolises much, more more.

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride..

The reality is we lack ambition. We have a billionaire owner who before Financial Fair Play was introduced, lacked ambition. This particular leopard has not, and will not, change it's spots.

Erm.. Bury him in gold, perhaps? He didn't seem too bothered when we didn't have CL last summer..

Still think this one can't be ruled out.

If the top 4 don't come in for him or want to pay Southampton's price we will become an attractive option again.

At the moment he's trying to force through a CL move but let's just see.

You reckon mate? Although I don't believe the figure you've quoted is right, even if it was, we've got our share of unneeded players that could potentially be used as sweeteners. The likes of Lennon, Townsend, Dembele & even Kaboul (I believe he's been linked to them as a replacement for Distin?) could all be used in a deal for McCarthy, and would be more than useful for Martinez's squad.

I know exchange deals are as rare as rocking-horse shit, but I'm just trying to make a point that, if necessary, we do have assets that could help sidestep this supposed £15mil outlay ceiling, that is being reported in the media & by some of our massively appreciated ITK fellas.

He's their best player and Martinez loves him. They got him two seasons ago for 14 million. There is absolutely no way they'd accept anything under 25 mill. They don't need to sell and the player himself has said he's happy staying.

Rule this one out before it's even begun.

Cheers. We were all waiting for your take on the situation. Hopefully that closes this case, we can all move on from thinking McCarthy might happen now you've ruled it out.

If we were going to sign him, it had to be last summer IMO. I don't like pointing fingers, but this is all Brendan Rodgers' fault. If he hadn't had such a hard-on for half of the Southampton team, they probably would've let Schneiderlin go. Bastard...

Time to move on to our alternatives, I guess.

It's actually Arsenal's fault- apparently they would have sold MS if the Southampton fans hadn't reacted so badly to Chambers going.

We could of just gone and signed him before Liverpool and Arsenal had already raped them, instead of waiting until the last 5 mins of the window
