Two different types of players. Olise is a quick footed, technical attacking mid. Looking at the impact that Eze is having for Palace and considering we were frontrunners for Eze, I'd hate to see us lose out on another talented player. Buy and loan back or buy and keep, I wouldn't mind us revisiting our roots of signing talented players from the Championship.
Fair play if this guy is tearing up the championship, but let’s not get carried away with Ezes impact at palace. He’s not exactly shone there (his goal today will be exaggerated- he beat a player on the halfway line and then ran to the edge of the box before sidefooting in)

To me he looks like the perfect Lamela replacement. Skilful, good vision and tracks back. If he can avoid injuries and bookings he’d be worth it for that alone, and he’s HG.

But I think it’s a stretch to presume he’d make the jump from EFL to a team challenging for the title.

Not even the great Oliver Skipp will manage that!

I referenced Eze as we were very close to signing him but according to ITK Jose decided against it. We've had some really good success signing players from the championship and it just so happens that we're in need of a dynamic attacking mid à la Eze. For the reported release clause fee, we can always sign him and let him go back on loan to develop but we need to take advantage of these deals before other teams step in.

He's definitely growing in influence. Have to hold my hand up, I discounted his impact early on as well. Eze was anonymous in the beginning of the season, even coming off the bench. But game by game, he's becoming more important to how Palace are playing. Probably to be expected after joining a new team.

If Olise is available at a decent price, I hope we do it. We've done far too little of bringing in talented domestic players from lower leagues in the last 5-6 years. With these type of players (young, talented), if it doesn't work out, they can still be sold at a very decent price.

Just seen his assist and it was just a simple pass the guy that scored did all the hard work. Also he doesn't seem to be starting for Reading all the time but maybe that's just the coach managing his minutes as a young player.

The kids is silky, turns players inside out, good range of passing too and very adventurous on the ball. Only just turned 19.

Rumours he isn't starting because of his contract situation / disagreements with club hierachy.

Grealish, Maddison, Eze... all these seriously talented young players we keep deciding against signing is driving me crazy. In was so glad when we Sess, I so wanted him, but he hasn't done it yet. Same with Clarke who looks good but not this level of talent. Let's not let Michael Olise be the next one we miss out. Come on guys, at least buy him and ruin his career so Palace don't get another baller

Interested in this one. We have definitely missed a trick on this front in recent years. Bowen and Eze spring to mind immediately. Let alone the higher profile ones like Grealish and Maddison.

I wonder if the Jack Clarke deal has put us off a bit.

Although Rose was considered to be a speedy little winger when he came to us. Considered as the next Lennon by some at Leeds!
Five minutes watching either should dispel that, even as teenagers. Rose never had anywhere near Lennon’s pace, skill or instinct, which isn’ta sought on Rose as Lennon at his best was truly superb (and I’d wager would easily hold down our current ‘hard working RW’ role better than any of our current options).

Olise is an about close control, tight spaces and smooth technique. Sessegnon is all about timed runs, composed final ball/ shot and positional discipline.

That's true, just a few Leeds lads I know consoled themselves about us stealing Lennon by saying that they had another youngster coming through anyway, talking about Rose. As a teen, he was a left winger.
Then we nicked him too!

I never seen Olise play but he sounds good. Love signing a young prospect and I'm still excited about Clarke's potential. I firmly believe he'll come good.

Someone gonna open a thread for Christian Eriksen? I would but these days I always expect it to get locked for not following the rules somehow.....

We've been discussing that tweet in the Eriksen thread

What sort of position would he realistically play? IMHO we need a wing forward who can score goals so that we can continue with a 433. This guy looks like he’s better suited to 442. That’s kind of what disappointed me in not persuing Eze, who strikes me as a box to box more central midfielder.

Eze has been extremely good in a generally poor Palace team. He will get better and better over the season he looks a special player and is still extremely young.

Ok we are going to have different opinions on things.
After we passed on him, I’d been watching palace where possible to see how he’d been getting on.

He didn’t start every game early in the season (understandable)
He didn’t score or assist many goals (Leeds, wba and us and now sheff Utd).
He showed good touches, but hasn’t transformed palace (agree that they aren’t the most adventurous and mostly rely on zaha).
He is still young, and no doubt growing into the PL and his club (also understandable).
He’s done ok so far. Excellent is a stretch IMO. He certainly hasn’t had the effect that Grealish had for villa last season
Have we missed out? Hard to say- at the end of the season you could judge better.

I doubt he’d have had any game time for us yet.
