I've been supporting this great club since 1978. In all those years, we've seemed to lack the required mental strength to really sustain any challenge on winning the title. Is this to do with the type of player, manager, coaching staff we employ, or is it the simple fact there are always 3 or 4 teams that are always better than us.

Its about money coaching and the sort of players you buy with them. Vinnie Jones is mentally strong but what a shit player. .. Our problem is we don't have enough match winners Van De Vaart apart (Modric can be a match winner but not often enough, Adebayor has been disappointing of late thought he'd be able to decide games for us), also whats worrying we trend to collapse, surprisingly with King in the team therefore it boils down to tactics/coaching.

The manager installs the mentality at any club. Problem for us is we can't attract a super manager.
Arry has done great for us but you get the feeling he is thankful for the role he has and is enjoying being so high in the table and managing a good club at last. To bridge the gap between where we are now we need a man who sees 3rd in any competition as being not good enough and that it's his expectation to win things.

Jose would completely transform us ( and our playing staff I imagine, defenders who can't defend don't feature heavily in his list of must have's ) and have us genuinely challenging for titles.

getting back down to planet earth, we have come a long way, in a way i prefer this steady progress were making...but is does piss me off that we're never mentally strong enough to beat manu chelsea arsenal liverpool more often. thats the next step in our steady progress i suppose

another couple of years with 'Arry and we'll be winning the league. He knows exactly the type of players we need even if D.L. usually goes for the cheaper version.
How much did Nani, Young, Rooney et al cost compared to our front line??
and the rest of the Untd team for that matter where money has been no obstacle to Red Nose for some years now.
We're just beginning to invest now that we've got a good team (Hazzard)
