Don’t know a huge amount about him but what I’m most encouraged about with the links so far is that they seem to make sense to balance a lot of our weaknesses. If we sign Tomiyasu it’d bring in a really composed two footed player that would slot in really well as a left centre back. Signing Lacroix would give us hugely needed pace in the back line. I know Mourinho would have always played the low block but in reality with the defenders we had it would have been tough to do much else.

Even if we look forward with Rodon, Doherty and Reguilon in the plans these players make sense. Rodon is great in the air, loves to defend but can be a little lumbering especially when pulled out and could do with both pace and composure next to him. Doherty is better as a wing back but doesn’t have much pace so having a pacy centre back to be able to cover his side would be huge. Reguilon is blessed with speed, but showed he had some defensive liabilities and some rushes of blood to the head last season and would benefit from some security next to him to help cover the defensive load.

I’m all for signing proven superstars if we can, but lesser known players that actually fit together well might be a better solution right now.

BILD saying that RBL have pulled out of negotiations for LaCroix…leaving us in pole position to get him.

get.this.deal.done.

Kounde or Skriniar don’t want us, get this guy in and he’ll change the whole defence…has the physicality of Ledley and the ball playing skills of Toby and Jan.

You know what to do Fabio

I have an interest in Bundesliga and watched a few games of Wolfsburg and would be a fantastic addition.

However be aware of the key role Brooks played alongside him. 28 but a lot of Bundesliga experience. They were great together.

So may be ideal to get a player next to him with Prem experience. Similar to what Evans provided with Fofana.

I mean I cant say i'd be excited but maybe an Andersen or Vestegard next to him could be ideal.

Yeah I'd be up for Andersen and Lacroix as our 2 CB signings. Kounde/Skriniar are pipe dreams at this point IMO.

Andersen to be the leader and Lacroix to have the pace/potential.

Those two are probably the best we could hope for this summer, which would have the biggest impact on rebuilding our defence.

Does it not concern anyone that he seems to of only had 1 good season of football and after doing a bit of research on him he’s now 21 with no France U21 caps let alone called up to the senior France squad.

Yes he maybe impressive and prove to be an astute signing but people comparing him to Van Dijk and talking like he’s going to be a messiah are wide of the mark.
He’ll be a work in progress so it’s vital we get a more experienced centre back alongside him.

Yep, concern is fair enough and that is why big clubs probably havent gone in straight away. would rather see him for another season. Anyone comparing him to Van Dijk is ridiculous!

But sometimes you have to gamble. Look at Fofana, few clubs were too anxious to see if he is ready yet and Leicester reaping the rewards.

Not concerned, France have ridiculous levels of talent all over the pitch including CB - Konate, Upamecano, Kounde, Fofana have been his competition so far.

we are not going to be able to buy ready made superstars so we need to buy those in the making and this guy looks mustard

France CB options are a joke, they could call up they’re 7th choice and he’d still be better than a lot of CBs

Yeah, not playing for the best international team isn’t really a stick to beat him with. France have great players in every position.

Any chance RB is pulling out means there is an issue with this deal? That being said, get it done ffs.

Leipzig's business model isn't normally shelling out £25m+ on players. Which is around the figure of what Lacroix would most likely cost.

They much prefer looking to their wide scouting network and picking up hot prospects from less established European clubs for >£15m. I also doubt that Wolfsburg wants to sell him to a direct rival and are probably asking for more money than what they'd ask for if they sold him abroad.
