Why did it become a problem in January all of a sudden? Players stopped playing and that's unacceptableBut not whipping them into submission does him no good as a manager.
But he had a year to get it sorted and it only got worse. He had 8 million a year to work it. He failed and got fired. That's what would have happened to all of us if couldn't fulfill our contractsWhy did it become a problem in January all of a sudden? Players stopped playing and that's unacceptable
Interestingly a pal of mine said same re BenitezI’m nearly 54. I’ve supported this club as long as I can remember, it’s a family thing. Without doubt Pochettino and his team have given me my greatest sustained period as a Spurs fan. I’m also a realist - I think Mauricio has simply passed his ‘best by’ expiry date. The feel good atmosphere has gone now in every aspect of the club including at the superb new stadium and amongst the playing staff. We need a change, it’s a harsh unsentimental truth. The rumour is out there about Mourinho but I have an inkling we may get Rafa Benitez...just instinct, not founded in any knowledge, just seems to fit at this moment in time.
Jose would want £150m in Jan. The guy relies on money and this is Levy we’re talking about
Why? The results were shocking and we are in a results business.
This isn't a flash in the pan or knee jerk reaction.
A few more weeks with results carrying on as they have been for the last 12 months and we'll be in a relegation battle. Deny all you like but thats the truth of it.
NOBODY knows if this is a good decision or not. Not even you.
Maybe he'd have suddenly turned it around, maybe not. I've never seen a manager turn around a slump like this so I'd say not.
What happens next is anybody's guess.
We can't live in the past. Poch was fantastic for us and will always be remembered for getting us to a CL Final (and remembered for what he did when we got there) but I think its just time for a change. Managers with supposed better reputations have snapped under much less.
