Weird that he’s seemingly only been given a 6 month contract at Madrid…they’ve announced he’s joined till end of the season. Very odd shenanigans and an utter shambles.

Read that there is a limit of 8 international loans allowed by FIFA, this would have been the 9th

Are we getting a fee? Maybe we knew about the rule and played dumb and got em to cough up a fee.

I’m joking, I think.

Summarising Romano’s Spurs window:

Here we go for Danjuma to Everton who then went to Spurs.

Here we go for Porro before it broke down only for it to be revived a day later.

Confirming straight loan for Doherty minutes before Spurs confirm a mutual agreement to cancel contract.

From the outside it looks like a few things are at play here:

Mismanagement
Wealth gap between PL and the rest
Incompetence

Mismanagement of player recruitment. We can’t shift players because we keep hitting reset and then have to acquire new players for the new manager. Then do it again. And again. Done this (released a player under contract) once with Aurier, and as it currently stands we’ve actually paid Sevilla 20m to take Lamela, as they now also have Gil (albeit on loan).

Wealth gap. PL is so far ahead of other leagues financially that they can’t afford to pay fees or match wages.

Incompetence (and I could be wrong here) due to what looks like not knowing the rules. It appears that they’ve found out about the rule during the transfer process and it’s been too late to renege. So they’ve had to cancel the contract as it’s the only solution. I can’t see Levy willingly giving a player away for free, even if he only had 18 months left.

Waiting for an explanation on how doing this makes levy the genius he is purported to be
Jeez some people can’t be pleased can they?!

Hold onto players demanding too much = bad Levy!

Mutually terminate contract = bad Levy!

It frees up a squad place and wages. I’d argue it’s a big club mentality which is what we keep hearing fans calling for!

Shame we couldn’t shift a few others like this. Great deal for everyone.
Don’t see how it’s a good deal for us. We’ve got zero money for a decent wing back with 18 months left on contract. Paratici is truly shit at selling players

Feel bad for him if we’ve forced that on him.
Doubt it. Otherwise it wouldn't have been mutual. Doherty will have been pleased to have been allowed. The issue here is we've signed an asset for money and then let it go for free! It's a financial headscratcher.

Inconsequential ultimately as with Porro coming in, one of Emerson or Doch would have to have gone.

Gotta expect some heads to roll for this.
