We switched to Sissoko after we failed to get Mane. Not quite sure how we thought they were the same player but all is well that ends well.

I don't know if the two are related. From the info available, Levy seemed to have been working on the Sissoko deal for a lot longer that people thought, and in Poch's book he practically cut all responsibility for any part in it.

Possible the scouts thought Sissoko could do something different to what Poch used him for - no idea.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Been out drinking with my friend all day whose brother works for the club.

I won’t say who or in what department obviously, but his brother messaged to say that Doherty has essentially been a done deal since Tuesday.

You’re all welcome to not believe me, of course. I wouldn’t either. But there we are.
So basically you got your mate pissed for some ITK.

Lol no, he messaged his brother while we were still sober.

But if what you’re implying is that I would get someone drunk in order to gain information they wouldn’t normally disclose... then you’re absolutely right.

This is why JMo likes Davies so much he’s basically a LCB in a back 3 while Doherty will do a much better job pushing on than Aurier. An eye for goal or an assist. I really love this signing.

Over the last couple years I've watched less and less football and as a result I feel so clueless when we are linked with players now. I used to hate it when people would base their opinion on a potential new signing on YouTube but its largely what I am left with now.

I don't know much about Doherty, but from the videos I have seen he is an out and out attacking Wing Back that gets goals in centre forward positions. What is his defensive game like? I am assuming this move will really cement the idea of Davies playing more of a LCB role?

My only worry is that we seem to be gearing up for a squad that is built around Plan A?

Liverpool's plan A has worked pretty well for the last couple seasons

I wonder if the aim here is to play like we did with Davies effectively becoming a 3rd CB and just the right back bombing on or if we're actually going to use Sessegnon as a wing back as well. I also don't think it makes sense selling Aurier if we're intent on having an attacking right back, surely we don't want one injury breaking the system straight away. I don't rate Aurier going forward but he at least he'd keep the balance of the side the same.

It’s all ifs but:

- Fernandes can play the attacking RWB role
- if Sessegnon kicks on this season he can play the LWB role

What we can’t rely on is having Foyth or Davies to provide our attacking intent as they’re very limited offensively.

Apologies if the language below offends anyone, it's quite a well-known meme template.

Where on earth has he got the idea that we would throw Sessegnon into the deal? Is that just a random suggestion of what Wolves fans think a fair price would be or is that rooted in some other speculation their end?
Nah, just rooted in the demented, syphilitic brain of lone_wolf.

Of course, not knocking it. My lack of knowledge about Doherty, as I say I don't know anything about his defensive abilities, just leads me concerned that we will have to play with a lopsided team every week
