I think Edwards could still be a bit lightweight and knocked off the ball by a gust of breath, however, he’s rapid and small and technical in a useful way.

His long range shooting is ace and no stranger to assists indicating footballing intelligence and competence.

Above all, he’s not only home grown but club trained. So important.

The attitude problem? I’d give him a chance to grow up. I’m sure the last few years have helped him to grow as s person.

I can see why it makes sense.

the way I view him is a cheap (26m is very low for a home grown talent) Moura replacement. We don’t need huge output to replace Moura really. As long as the money is there for a true son successor in the future I’m for it as the HG element helps.

If Conte will play him, this would be a great deal. But if Conte won't, we don't need someone with a history of attitude issues causing problems for us. I really hope we learn our lessons from the Ndombele transfer, attitude matters as much or more so than talent.

I'd back our ITKs over Ali G any day.
Ali G had a pretty bad summer transfer wise. He kept pouring cold water on the Lenglet deal until it actually happened and didn't really call any transfers early. He clearly gets info but a lot of the stuff he says seems to be informed by common sense.

Strange though that it is pretty much what I have heard and that came from his agent via a friend of mine. Quite the coincidence in fact.
but as suggested if he was a problem he would not be playing as a first teamer in my view

Agree, I don’t think he’s much of a fountain of info when it comes to transfers. He will occasionally have the odd name that’s never been mentioned but beyond that I think he adds his on opinion a lot of the time. He is pretty much currently echoing what most fans on here feel about Edwards. That being said, I’m not entirely convinced Edwards is our first choice even if we have looked into a potential deal.

Irrelevant, balotelli was decent on the pitch too
Balotelli on the pitch is what we fans pay our money to see. Balotelli off the pitch is what the fans' money pays our club staff to deal with. I'd have loved to have seen Balotelli at Spurs.

While I don't disagree with you, I think he is too close to the club and they use him as their PR machine, so he reports on what he is told to report on, whereas our ITKs gives it to us warts and all.

Due diligence
When buying players with history of attitude issues DD is double down. Didn’t work with Ndombele and my concern about Edwards is how he will react when’s he’s on the bench consistently as a bit player, that will test whether he knuckles down or the attitude wanders. Why would you risk it.

He’s got a pretty good record poo-pooing deals that we get all hot and bothered about here. Of course, that’s the easy side of the bet - most rumored xfers / interest don’t come to fruition. He’ll never be the first to break a new name, but if he’s not hearing/confirming its legit interest, it usually doesn’t happen.

He has definitely matured. He pulled his laces up went abroad to a lower team and worked his way up to a massive club in Sporting. He has shown great character note his foundation schooling.

He went from Vitória, currently 6th in the table, to Sporting, currently 4th in the table. That Table being Primeira Liga, 6th best league in Europe.

Let’s not go overboard on his career trajectory

And his current manager has said he needs to put more effort in during training. Plus the ITK we had from Trix that he still has attitude problems + turns up late etc.

Sure, but at the same time we can recognise that he's a young player who lost his way and managed to rebuild his career abroad. Whatever the truth about his attitude now, that must have taken a lot of character.

@dicky how is this off topic lol
