Just seen this on the BBC website: > http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_city/8644269.stm

Manchester City have written to the Premier League asking for clearance to sign a goalkeeper on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season. And BBC Sport understands the Premier League is likely to grant City's request for a temporary replacement.
Shay Given will miss City's last three games after dislocating his shoulder in the 0-0 draw with Arsenal on Saturday.
Stuart Taylor is also sidelined, which leaves the inexperienced Gunnar Nielsen as the only fit keeper.
More to follow.

Could be an interesting outcome.....

We should resist this. They have goal keepers. We have been low on right backs. Do we get another one?
This could be key to getting 4th. Its not like they could not have afforded more.

I can't imagine any Premier League teams will want to help them out so he'll probably look to bring someone over from Italy.

Edit - I wonder if Portsmouth might be willing to loan out David James just to get him off the wage bill for a few weeks.

totally agree with you jimmy. Why should they be allowed to sign a goalkeeper now? if this goes through i would lose all hope for the FA.

it's pretty standard letting clubs get another keeper in when they get injuries even if they only have 1 inexperienced keeper left.

in recent memory i can remember Chelsea & liverpool being the same?

I've already given up on the FA. I'm not going to be happy if they are allowed to bring someone else in but if it was HG who was injured now I'm sure we'd all be arguing that we should be allowed to sign someone.

This is a joke, they have keepers on their books. We should strongly contest any ruling in favour of this.

Buffon on loan and then signed permanently in the summer?

City have been strongly linked to Buffon recently.

I would be pissed off if this happened. They have goalies so fuckin' use them! Why should they be allowed an emergency goalie?

Doubt James would go.... F.A. Cup would be so important to him and he is the captain, no?

I doubt they'll go for it. It's too close to the end of the season now, and they have a make do keeper on their books to cover the last 3 games. Had it been a couple months left of the season and they had long term injuries in goal, it might have been ok. But they'll be ok for the remaining games of the season.

It can't be good for their stand in keeper though, knowing he has no vote of confidence at the club. The pressure is really on him now. If I was MON, I would tell Milner to shoot on site on Saturday.

I bet a lot of clubs in Spain, Italy, France and Germany will be wanting this deal to be accepted. You just know Man City will throw a few million to someone half decent.

Pathetic if allowed, the whole point of a transfer window is to prepare your squad for the rest of the season, they have plenty of keepers on their books I thought Stuart Taylor was even back in training this week?

Then again, the F.A make it up as they go along. I'm sure they could do with some money too:roll:

Shit rule.

I imagine it wouldn't happen for obvious reasons, but Ben Foster would be an ideal loan signing for 3 games.

This does show that they have no faith what so ever in their Faroe Islander.

If this happens, I might actually give up following the PL. So many times this season the FA have fallen short of what they should do, allowed things to go unnoticed, and just points to corruption. If this happened, it would be the icing on the cake.
