A lot of doom and gloom around following the news yesterday and understandably so.

But....

Unless something has changed from my conversation the other day with my source, we're going to be just fine, in fact our squad is going to be A LOT stronger than it was and that's even without one of the best strikers in the world.

I genuinely couldn't feel anymore relaxed knowing who is going to have the money to spend. He won't get every signing right but the guy has an amazing track record at building successful squads and I genuinely believe he will do the same with us.

Well you were right when it came to the Romero deal that people needed to relax so I guess we'll have to trust you and then simply turn on you if things don't go the exact way each of us individually demand

Not too concerned about things being quieter this week. I think a lot boils down to getting the Kane deal finalised. Think that will be the trigger for some big moves to be pushed through. Clearly there were talks this week with us and Kane. According to ITK he is going to go. Should be a green light for moves to happen.

Think Sanchez goes when Kounde moves either as p/ex or as a replacement.

I would like to see some of our others starting to move such as CCV, Sissoko etc but think they will be last week moves.

I am trusting Fabio.

Imagine if in your job hundreds of thousands of idiots like me are anxiously watching and discussing everything you are/aren't doing in real time.

Neuroticically demanding updates every second and that you "just sign someone" and then those same idiots (again me) are the first to go "WHY DID YOU SIGN THEM!!!!" if they don't score 1000 goals a season.

Poor lad

& if that happens in the last week of the window we are leaving ourselves in a position to be left screwed over when it comes to timing

We needed a CB before we sold the best one at the club. We need a proper back up or someone to play along side Kane if he stays, if he goes we'll need 2.

Right now, we are going into the start of the season weaker than when last season ended. We have a hell of a lot to do.

It's always the same though every season. Even if we signed all the players we wanted already there's still very little pre-season time for them to gel together. Not to mention the 6+ month adaption time that most players coming into the premier league need.

Ultimately our biggest problem last season was not the quality of our players, but the mentality they had which was a direct result of having JM in charge.

I would expect a bounce back in form from a number of players due solely to Nuno's management style.

If you then look at the players on the pitch, id say we'll be in arguably a better position apart from Kane than when we beat City 2-0 last season at home.

We need to sign some players, that will happen, but right now I don't thin it's as serious as some people are making out. Let's get through the game this weekend and see what happens from there.

Okay, last time I say this (and I think you'll find it's been confirmed by some of the ITK's) That will never be allowed to happen, City are not going to turn up very late August with £150m + and get Harry Kane. There is a timeline to this and in my opinion we are no more than just over 48hrs away from it expiring. Daniel and Fabio know it as does Pep,Harry and Charlie. We cannot possibly be expected to create provision for his leaving if it all just sits floating in the air with Man City holding the string to the balloon. No way !

Would have helped to have at least one new player able to start on Sunday though. At this moment in time the first 11 aint any stronger than last season.

This is spot on. This window has really been no better than many previous ones “so far” but then add the Kane nonsense to it and it feels pretty grim.

We're highly likely going to be without Kane but I would argue with Romero at the back that strengthens us ten fold and if Gil was to play, he would add a very unique attacking threat for us. We just need to be patient, we're in a very strong position financially as you all know in comparison to the majority of Europe. We will be able to get some very good players a lot cheaper than 12 months ago.

I'm ever the optimist and still feel very hopeful for this window, but I'd be lying if I said the absolute lack of news and public movement while things are so rapidly changing around the club wasn't gnawing at my nerves quite a lot.

I know we'll be rebuilding when Kane goes and it'll be a transition season or two, but I hope we can get the players in to make it an exciting transition and not a slog. Please Fabio, come through!

I like that you want to be optimistic and hopefully come the end of the window we can be. But, as of now, without Kane and Alderweireld in the starting line up and Romero injured (which is the prediction for this weekend) as well as losing Lamela... our squad is weaker for the game against City than it was last year. And we weren't good enough last year.

Arsenal depressed that their chances of signing Locatelli are disappearing fast. I have no idea if Fabio has been able to influence the player into going to Juventus but I'm pretty sure he'd be dropping poison into his ears over considering joining that shithole.
Didn't think you had it in ya.

I think we're going to have to accept that we're in a rebuild and rushing to get a team that can take on City is not the priority. Giving ourselves the best possible chance of accelerating the project to where we're back to our peak under Poch is and ultimately that means trying to make the most out of the deflated market towards the end.

Agree, it would have been good to add at the very least one player, but we have a team that is training now (rather than not under JM) and they may just be a little fitter, may make a difference (hopefully)
We may get to see Gil though.

Gil isn't known as a goalscorer though, he's more a creator.

Apart from Son our goal threat will be poor v City.

We need a striker urgently.

That said, with the players we are linked with, Torres, Vlahovic, Martinez, I reckon the last two weeks of this window may be pretty spectacular for us Spurs fans.

Two thoughts on Don Fabio’s business so far:

  1. Every match is important, sure. But I think it would be wise to keep in mind this is a process which will take more than one season so getting bent out of shape about not having our business done in time for our first match is probably OTT. It could also conceivably get worse before it gets better.
  2. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Just because we don’t know what’s happening doesn’t mean nothing’s happening.

Exactly - no way this is a one transfer window fix.
