This would make sense and could be good deal, get him in for a year studying Hugo and if we feel he’s good enough we take up the option

Wonder why the player would agree though. He's a starting GK at this point in his career.

FYI he’s homegrown because he played for United’s youth teams. Could be a player Paratici knows is affordable and a good option

I don't think this is true. He spent less than 2 years at Man Utd, and didn't join Villa until after his 21st birthday.

As crazy as it is sounds, I think people on Twitter are wrong.

He's a number one now. Why at 26 would he want to be a backup?

No1 at an Italian team that is punching above it’s weight and he’s had the offer to train well, perform well and challenge a World Class keeper who’s likely to leave sooner rather than later at a team who have Champions League aspirations and were in the Final two years ago.
Yes not the most enticing but surely not that ridiculous if he can be persuaded ?? ?

Wages may have a bearing too.

Is he any good?

I've never heard of him, so was surprised to see he was Villa's #1 a few years ago. Doesn't bode well that United didn't want him, and Villa loaned him out to Atlanta before selling him. Either a late bloomer, or a bit cack.

Also, this is him ?

United had De Gea in his prime and very good no2 in Romero. Gollini never had a chance there.

One Villa fan on Gollini :

He has made a name at Atalanta. Lets see - if he comes, at the minimum a goal keeper coming from back of 3 good seasons as no2 for now.

I wasn't ecstatic about the Paratici appointment particularly the more I read about him. But I was hopeful that we would at least be able to get deals done more easily than before. If we believe the reports that Paratici began work weeks before his start date, to have not even been able to complete 1 deal IN or OUT is quite concerning for me.

Often getting a player in early, to get a preseason, is worth the extra couple of mil. Haggling for weeks over these amounts for every player overall isn't productive. As well as if we can't afford our first option, don't waste weeks on end pondering or offering similar amounts. Move on to the next target that's more achievable.

I get deals aren't simple but other clubs are making moves and getting things done, the issue is not the market.

Mid twenties isn’t really being a late bloomer for a keeper though.

Fabrizio Romano went on a spurs youtube page for an interview and I just saw this summary on Reddit.

That last line is good, that Romero link only strongly appeared since Ali's last piece - was only the odd whisper before that.

I think we'd all love a proper decent under the radar signing like Son was. One vague report about him and 2 days later he's ours.

Therein lies your answer (y) He joined Spurs on July 1st, just over two weeks ago. I can find nothing to indicate Juventus gave him permission to take up his new duties prior to his appointment date. I would therefore respectfully suggest that he hasn't exactly sat on his hands since he's officially been here. Believe what you know to be true but please be cautious of anything else.

To follow up on this. Ally Gold just did a video. Romero seems like the favorite choice at CB and have had advanced talks. Nothing new there based off his article earlier on he and Gollini.

He reiterated the Kounde news last week that he understands Kounde really wants Madrid but something to keep an eye on.

Tomiyasu deal is ongoing because he's at the olympics.

Aouar, he can't see it right now because of finances & club prioritizing defenders currently.
