I'm still double fucked off with the 'mutual holding' call against Son in the penalty area.

even if you think it is not enough for a penalty mutual holding it most certainly was not.

i can't lie the way we are being officiated this season is giving me the raging hump regardless of result.
What is a 'mutual holding call'?

Just taking our reds and yellows in isolation is not helpful, so many unpunished fouls against us, not just against Forest, but seemingly every week, especially so since Liverpool.

How Yates didn't get booked once, even winning a free kick for probably the most reckless tackle of the night when he should have been booked etc.

Bissouma's red was just a late tackle. It wasn't dangerous, just late. Romero on Wilson, was just late, not malicious.
Romero before and Bissouma on Friday both earned their reds by going in with studs up. Whether it was intentional, clumsy or a momentary rush of blood to the head does not matter. The one that pisses me of is Udogie's yellow as there is no way it should have been a yellow based on what was not called going the other way. Our guys do need to read the game and referee better especially as the matches get stretched in the 2nd half.

I don't think there is a generic Spurs chat thread - so I'll include this here:

I really do like the make-up/character of the squad - good lads!

Some comments from the embargoed section of the presser:

On Adversity:
Tottenham have had their own adversity this season following a number of injuries and that was put to Postecoglou when speaking to the media. Admitting that teams are always going to face different challenges, the Australian made it perfectly clear that he won't let adversity stop Tottenham's progress nor use it as an excuse if things go wrong.

"Everyone thinks their own burden is greater than anyone else's but that's why I am really respectful of every manager," he said when asked who out of Everton or Tottenham have had more adversity this season. "Because even the ones who you think have had things all their own way I'm sure they have had their own challenges.

"Once you accept and embrace that you understand that it is part of your role that irrespective of what club you are at or what situation you are in there are always going to be challenges. Some are seen, some are unseen, some people don't know about - and if you clutch at those for a reason not to be successful they will always be there.

"What strong leaders do is that they don't use them as a crutch. I'm not going to do that here. We have had some adversity already this season and had some adversity before the season started. In my mind that shouldn't stop us from making the progress we need to make."

On Chris Davies Staying:
Ange Postecoglou has admitted he is "delighted" that senior assistant coach Chris Davies has decided to stay at Tottenham Hotspur. Arriving at the club in the summer as part of the backroom changes following Postecoglou's appointment as boss, the 38-year-old was heavily linked with the Swansea City vacancy following Michael Duff's dismissal at the beginning of December.

A chance for him to return to the club he worked for between 2010-12 during Brendan Rodgers' time in Wales, Davies in the end elected against swapping Spurs for Swansea. Admitting that he "didn't have a massive discussion" with Davies amid the Championship club's interest in appointing the talented coach as boss, Postecoglou is very happy that his assistant has decided to stay part of his "really exciting coaching group".

"I didn't have a massive discussion with him," explained the Australian. "Chris sort of decided that this is where he wants to be. Great for us.

"He has been a real key contributor to what we are doing and he's part of what I think is a really exciting coaching group because they're all sort of young guys who are really determined to make an impact. Great for me.

"Like I said before, you want the best people and if you have the best people they are always going to attract attention from others. It's always better if they come to the decision themselves to stay with us than us sort of force the issue. Chris kind of decided this is the place for him and I'm delighted to have him on board."

Absolutely love Ange’s can do, solution focused positive attitude, so refreshing, especially after having had the opposite with our previous 3 Managers.

Today's press conference

Ange made a really interesting point towards the end here - the question starts at 8:42 about Bissouma - but in his answer about how to keep players in check from suspensions, he talks about players who make those kind of mistakes will learn from missing out of games - BUT, he can't sit players like he wants because of squad depth, they have to come right back in.

It will be interesting to see how these things get handled later this season - as we get players back, or next season when we have better depth - in terms of Ange using game time as a motivator for silly fouls/suspensions, etc.

I watched the game last night and missed a bit but on the whole we where good, should have scored a lot more goals.

yes we can control and defend better

I thought everyone played well considering, how many players are missing.

We are clearly still a work in progress but when you look at what he's achieving, in a year where we lost the best striker on the planet and many were predicting we would struggle to finish in the top half of the table, it's pretty amazing. I'm quite happy with whoppers in the media like Cundy, and Rory Jennings putting us down, talking about how naive Ange is because the longer we go under the radar the better. If we are still around the top 4 in Feb when all our players hopefully come back, and we avoid another injury/suspension crisis we could really ruffle some feathers in the run in because from what I've seen we're as good as anyone when our best players are available. We just need to keep picking up points in the meantime, and have a decent transfer window.
