It's also not a question of being backed or not. As there's the simple reality of January always being notoriously difficult to sign new players. Kulu + Benta deals are rare.

Yes, I can certainly see they will bring in CB cover. But it won't be a player at VdV or Romero's level. But will fit in a pinch.

Ange is probably considering what his short-term options will look like in midfield with AFCON and the Asian Cup. Therefore, can see a loan in that area. Same with the attack.

The true measure of whether or not he is backed will be next summer. As I'm sure he'll have three or four priority positions/player-types he will be pushing hard for. Hopefully they won't leave him short. Think he's proven - even by this stage - that he is a star worthy of hitching.

We’ve had many similar moments before where we’ve flirted with pushing on and inexplicably the board haven’t gone for it. I think it’s safest to
presume the worst and then if it does happen we’ll have a nice suprise.

We definitely need another CB and a DM and maybe a striker but let’s see. Most important is a new CB for me.

Scariest thing for me is the new scouting team after such success with the last one. I don't have much doubt about ENIC putting some money forward for sensible priced players. It's just whether those cheaper ones are going to be of the quality of the others. We don't need to pump silly money towards signings but we do need another year of recruitment like this one. Get players of the calibre of Porro, Vicario, VdV and Maddison and we're going to challenge for titles. Get players like Reguilon, Hojbjerg and Ndombele and we'll fall short again.

I mean the football is superb, simply unstoppable at times. Obviously, there are things to work on and depth to be added to the squad in January, but what I love equally, if not more, is the players giving 120%, giving a shit, showing ambition, optimism, and working hard as fuck for each other, the team and the club.

Yup, this is it for me. When the players are brave and work like shit and show they care - better still with all that and sumptuous football - I've got a lot of tolerance for results going against us. It's like the end of Gladiator when he dies and you're sad but so proud of him.

I actually genuinely did go to the match with my 11 year old son. This is not a joke. And now he’s a meme.
Yeah but there is going to the match with your 11 year old son but unless he had tears of joy rolling down his cheeks then he cannot truly be considered an 11 year old.

I think we have a very well balanced starting 11 though and the last few weeks have shown good depth in most areas, we need a CB and a goal scorer.

We also have a lot of talented kids to come though.

What a monumental win.
I can't help but pour my heart out in praise for Ange and our beloved Spurs. The transformation under Ange's guidance is nothing short of magical. The way our team played, with flair, determination, and that unmistakable Spurs spirit, was a sight to behold.

My 11-year-old, who's been emotional throughout this incredible journey, couldn't contain his joy. His celebration mirrored the passion we all feel for this club. It's moments like these that make being a Spurs fan truly special.

Ange, you've not just changed our playing style; you've injected a new energy, a renewed sense of hope. As a fan and a father, witnessing my son immersed in the emotions of this victory is a testament to the unifying power of football.

Here's to more victories, more emotions, and the beautiful journey we're on under Ange's inspiring leadership.
COYS!
In this moment of overwhelming emotion, I need to express the profound impact Ange has had on both me and my 11-year-old. After enduring years of disappointment, Ange's wonderful style has become a lifeline, allowing us to rediscover the joy in football. It's not just about wins; it's about feeling worthy as supporters, and that feeling is indescribable.

Tears of joy are streaming down, and in this flood of gratitude, I want to extend heartfelt thanks to Daniel Levy for giving Ange the chance. The decision has not just revitalized our club; it's mended something deep within us as fans. Ange, your influence has brought back the magic we thought was lost, and for that, our gratitude knows no bounds. Every moment is cherished, and we're eternally thankful for this renewed sense of belonging with our beloved Spurs.

I wouldn't say we have good depth in most areas. I think there's only 14 who are reliable enough and can play the system well. Then there's question marks over a few and the rest need to be replaced. That's really not enough. We may find 2 or 3 of the question marks come good but we would still need about 5 or 6 more to go into a European season.

These for me are all good. Vicario, Udogie, Davies, VdV, Romero, Emerson, Porro, Bentancur, Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Kulusevski, Johnson, Son

The ones who have to prove themselves are Sessegnon (fitness as much as ability), Lo Celso (promising signs lately but still much to prove), Gil (looks lightweight and not promising signs), Richarlison (good signs on Sunday) and Soloman (early days for him).

Perisic will likely never play for us again. Forster is fine as a number 2 but we should look for a long term number 2 at some point. The rest just aren't up to it or suited to the system.

We have some promising youngsters so there may be 1 or 2 make it into the squad for next season. However there's still plenty of work to do in the window. You can see the levels change a lot when there's 3 or more of those 14 out. We get Bentancur back against Villa and look so much better before he goes off and because we had no Sarr, Bissouma and Maddison. We look better as Sarr and Romero come back in. To be fair Richarlison has helped too and out of the question marks he could be most likely to prove his worth.

I'm happy to build a small but talented squad but there would need to be at least 18 first team calibre players. There simply is not enough competition for places at the moment. I'm happy to play a few in a couple of positions like Kulusevski in midfield, Davies centre back, Bentancur as a 6. That allows players to stay sharp by playing the better players more often and a bit of rotation without too many changes.

When all are fit now I would say we have 9 certain starters. Vicario, Udogie, VdV, Romero, Porro, Bentancur, Maddison, Son, Kulusevski. Then its Bissouma or Sarr and Richarlison or Johnson. That's not good if we want to push on. Although those first 9 are great and so are Bissouma and Sarr so we getting there.

Right. We don't need to break the bank but no more Ryan Nelsens please.

Well said.
Ange regularly talks about where he’s trying to take us and short-term really doesn’t play a big part in his thinking. That means Jan signings won’t be panic buys.

It will be a balancing act because he knows we need more players and if we’re in with a chance of top 4, do we sign players in Jan rather than wait for potentially better options in summer?

I agree with you on everything apart from Emerson. I think he's in the same bracket as Hojbjerg and Skipp, that of a player that can do a job in the system but doesn't have the tools to thrive in it.

As an emergency centre back I agree with you and let's hope the Jan transfer committee do too, but as a right back, I reckon he and Ange can easily get him to where we need him to be as back-up to Porro.
