Once again left with the feeling Levy popped in for a motivational talk over lunch. Why would so many managers do exactly the same thing otherwise?! 🤷🏼‍♂️
The tinfoil theory that Daniel Levy is both manifestly incompetent yet also able to manipulate Mourinho, Conte, and now Postecoglu to do his bidding and then lie about it, never ceases to amaze and confuse.

I think going out in the 2nd round gives an honest appraisal of where the squad is at, rather than going to the quarters to be knocked out by a city or liverpool.

We have the players for a functional 11, we probably have overall 14-15 players that really are the team. The focus is on them and laying the foundations for future seasons. With our first 11 we may be able to do something reasonable in the league given we have 1 game a week but hopefully this awakens the fanbase to the reality of what this season is, where we are having made the choice to sell Kane and maybe accepting that we'll allow us to enjoy the footballing foundations being laid rather than kidding ourselves about glory in the immediate future.

Team selection and that halftime sub tells me Ange had literally zero interest in winning that game tonight. Which I find absolutely fucking staggering.
Did he think it was some pre-season friendly?
And to top it off Sanchez as 3rd penalty taker is just taking the fucking piss.
Hugely disappointed in Ange. Really thought he might be different to the rest and would take domestic cups serious.
How wrong can you be.
3 decent games to start your Tottenham career and you then go and shoot yourself in the foot in only your 4th game.
Not sure what the fuck he was thinking tonight and now has massive pressure to get 3 points against Burnley.
Can’t even be bothered to tear into those joke players.
‘We’ve got our Tottenham back’…
Yeah we sure have.

I'll tell you one thing, when we was 1-0 down, my Arsenal mate was giddy about the idea of Spurs fans being overly annoyed and the honeymoon being over. I told him it sounded like Arsenal fan erotica, how wrong I was.

He ought to have been more patient, he would have got more chances to play those players gradually over several cup games. Now he’s got no cup games, and those players have less chances.
Yeah chances are we'd have avoided a PL team in the next round at this stage. If we'd had a Morecambe or Lincoln or whoever at home then fair enough but can't do what he did for Fulham away.

Why is he under massive pressure for 3 points against Burnley! Surely that sort of thinking just promotes short termism and knee jerking if it doesn’t happen?

Let the man do his job and judge how he’s doing after 6 months rather than game to game.

Well hopefully Ange now knows those that just need to go. Fair enough, 9 changes is a bit much but by heck it’s just the start of a process knowing who he can place trust in and who can play to his demands. The squad needs severe trimming.

That starting 11 in the first 3 prem games works a treat. I know a lot are angry about tonight and it’s totally on Ange, however, the man has literally just started and he nearly has his starting 11 who plays to his style but the most important thing he needs the squad. Over to you MR COYS cough cough.

Unpopular opinion (maybe? I dunno) but I think we've looked better without inverting our full backs and let them play a more traditional role, with our midfielders dealing with trying to beat the pres. In the first half today, like the first half against United, we're struggling building from the back when both come narrow.

Surely lads like mason who have been around the place long enough to know our 2nd string can't put in a decent performance should have warned him off the changes.

If we lose against Burnley on weekend after that performance and his decisions then that'll be a really poor week.

A normal spurs team loses that game against Burnley. Let’s see if we are any different for real now.

First strike with me. Has to do better. His post game response is not a valid excuse, he can see what his players are capable of without making wholesale changes to a winning side.

He had a chance to rectify his god awful team selection at halftime and instead brought on a 19 year old striker. If players are playing shit, he needs to have the balls to pull them out and make changes!

You bring on Maddison, Biss, Sarr, Romero, at half and that game is won. Utterly ridiculous.

When Porro and Sarr came in against Man Utd, Ange said in the pre-match interview that whilst Emerson and Skipp played well against Brentford, he wanted to see a few more players in a match situation so he could know what he's working with.

I thought it was a refreshing approach and I'm baffled why he didn't stick with that. Rotate one or two players (maybe increase to 3-4 for a cup game) and slowly get to know your squad.

Making 9/10 changes no matter who the manager is or what the competition is doesn't help anyone. It only disjoints the squad and wastes our chance at a trophy.

Disappointed in Ange tonight but we're at the start of a long-term process and we have to have patience.

Hopefully a CB and a forward to close out the window and a trimming of the squad and we can move forward and continue week by week to continue implementing his philosophy.

We are so early into the season - we had to rotate. Too many games, with high energy, this close together - leads to long-term hamstring and other muscular injuries.

So, while I agree that maybe 9 changes was too much - we had to heavily rotate this game to keep everyone healthy for the long-term.

But, I do think the rotation could have been different - to give us more control in the midfield. Save Skippy for the weekend, to play with Bissouma and Maddison. I think Sarr would have made a world of difference in being able to bring the ball out of the back.

didnt mourinho leave because he wanted to rest players before cup final and levy insisted he played full strength?

Totally reasonable posts in here. Ange with strikes against him and under pressure for Burnley. 4 games in.

Never change guys
Keep up with the blind faith and moral high ground if it makes you feel good.

I’m team Ange but I’m fair… he fucked up royally tonight. No, he isn’t under any pressure but there will be lessons to be learned for him. He can’t be doing this again when the FA cup comes around.
