He has been excellent with the media throughout all this but why did he persist with playing kane with the first team players when he was told from day 1 he wanted out?

Preparing for the possibility of life without Kane has to include the possibility that he might stay. Ange has also said that he believes in treating everyone the same, so I don’t think he will have a bomb squad at any point or freeze any individual out

Say Ange's style of football if you want, but personally I think it’s cringe as fuck and sounds like the sort of thing the gooners would do.

Also, if it’s used because it saves you time writing “I love Ange's style of football” instead of “I love this football we’re playing” I’d love to know what the two seconds you saved gets you doing?

You do you though.

Not a fan of the term. Read it in the metro as a reference to him. I thought I can understand it being used here as the intelligence rage varies though surely a professional reporter could do better.

Shows that all the talk if Harry being 50-50 was bullshit
I don't think it's bullshit.

Putting everything together I've come to the conclusion that:
1. Kane wanted to leave.
2. Kane wanted to stay in the PL rather than go abroad. hence the 50-50
3. He was open to a short extention with a lower release clause which almost guarantees a big PL team will come in for him next summer.
4. Even if he was impressed with ange I believe I believe he still would leave and not sign a longer extention.
5. The ultimatum DL apparently gave kane was to commit to 5 years or be sold now for 100 million or so.
6. Kane reluctantly chose to go to BM.

The end.

Just watched the press conference and I agree with comments on here that there’s very little like him in the PL at the moment: really down to earth and considered, English as native tongue and a generally different flavour being an Aussie.

I love the way he explained the attitude of not telling fans what the think: do the job on the pitch, make us excited and the opinions will take care of themselves.
He’s very smart with his words he isn’t setting expectations he’s demanding them from his players . I think we will be alright you know

The departure of Harry and the onset of change might be painful, but they also signify the start of a new chapter for the team's rebuild. With Ange at the helm and the evolving dynamics, there's a chance for improved rapport with fans, given the altered expectations for this season due to the acknowledged rebuilding phase. While pundits and experts might be skeptical, it's worth noting that dismissing our potential could be a risky proposition. I'm optimistic that the team could pleasantly surprise the league in various ways this season.

I don't understand this idea of an ultimatum. Daniel Levy and Tottenham cannot survive sending Kane to the reserves for a season. In fact, our manager would probably walk. So what leverage do we have for any ultimatum? Far more likely his mind was made up, as literally said by our manager today, who is reaping the plaudits for his straight talking honesty, before the preseason even begun?

I didn't believe he'd want to go there either as I think it's a stupid move in terms of his career, as he won't win a CL there imo and the entire country (who lets be honest, have never taken to him outside of us) will forget about the bloke. But everything points to him not-reluctantly choosing this move. He has too much sway, a player of his stature, to somehow be bullied into a move for literally no reason.

I believe the reluctance was more having to go abroad rather than stay in the PL whilst also not turning the situation into a Campbell.

It's been widely known he wanted spurs to get a fee for him. The idea of being open to a short extension allows the fee to come into play and negate him leaving on a free to a big PL team.

Obviously DL had no intention of selling him to a PL team

One of the most refreshing things about Ange vs. Conte and Poch is that he doesn’t speak in riddles. There’s no BS and he comes across as completely honest without an ego.

While he kept playing Kane, he played it smart, too, and gave Ricky the prime time against Barcelona, arguably the more intense and challenging of the fixtures, and the closest to season start. That had to be a deliberate choice with Kane going in mind.

We had information from Prof on COYS saying the exact opposite of that, that those contracts were offered to Kane and he rejected them.

The crucial part of whether or not contracts were offered would have been if Kane was willing to sign them before the end of the transfer window.

Kane had made it crystal clear he would not sign before the end of the transfer window hence I suspect Levy not countenancing this scenario and indeed insisting Kane leaves now.

Hopefully less tourists and divs at the matches n'all, to quote @riggi ...
