Our best chance of a trophy this season and it's thrown away predominantly because of bad team selection.
First real misstep from Ange.
First real misstep from Ange.
I think most agree that some changes were required yesterday, but perhaps 4-6 rather than 9. We probably would’ve won last night if we started Vicario, Romero and Maddison. Why he put Scarlett on rather than Maddison at half time at 1-0 down I’ll never understand. Never mind though. Hopefully he’ll take the FA cup more seriously. How is he supposed to get to the bottom of his players unless he plays them all in competitive matches ?
Yep.How is he supposed to get to the bottom of his players unless he plays them all in competitive matches ?
But we didn’t. We had two preseason games cancelled last minute.I'm really disappointed with his answer saying "how am I going to find out about my players?" We had a whole preseason for that. Granted you rotate in the cups, but nine changes was an awful decision. After Burnley we don't play again for two weeks.
He is experienced enough to know that Skipp/PEH is a bad combo or that Dane at halftime isn't the best sub or that it is a bad idea to play without at least one of our captains/vice-captains.
Our best opportunity of a cup is now gone. He has done so much right so far, but last night was a huge blow for Ange in my opinion.
We didn’t throw it away. We lost on penalties to a good PL side. We didn’t play well in the first half at all, but it’s not like they were there for the taking like many teams we’ve lost to in recent years without a fight. I understand people are disappointed but I think people are getting over the top about this.No one is expecting him to fix every problem in his first two months but we might only play 40 games this year so to throw this one away is piss poor
He has a few days to decide if Scarlett stays with the squad or goes on loan again, so I think he wanted to see him competitavely.I think most agree that some changes were required yesterday, but perhaps 4-6 rather than 9. We probably would’ve won last night if we started Vicario, Romero and Maddison. Why he put Scarlett on rather than Maddison at half time at 1-0 down I’ll never understand. Never mind though. Hopefully he’ll take the FA cup more seriously.
I don’t think anyone is hating on Ange, I am certainly not but if you don’t think that line up was questionable again what is really a Derby match I think is slightly silly. I can see his argument of *having to see the whole squad* but he was either naive in his selection or he didn’t really care about the Cup in the first place. Perhaps he’s going balls out for the FA Cup or for top 4, only he will know. It’s his fourth competitive game as our manager for christ sake, he’s not going to fix everything he’s inherited from the previous years dross overnight and he’s going to make a mistake every now and then, he said as much recently.
This is a project, we finished 8th last season, have some perspective you whiny entitled little bitches, honestly fuck right off with that shit.
Training ground/behind closed doors friendless/under 23's games...Competitive games, especially knock out cup games should be given priority. Will we look back in 15 years and go, we'll we took 3 points off burnley at the weekend and proved GLC wasn't up to it?...or is it another possible cup run opportunity missedHow is he supposed to get to the bottom of his players unless he plays them all in competitive matches ?
tbf we had chances to win FA Cup and League Cup, we just bottledFFS... you have to go back 10 years to find someone other than a doped team who won this trophy. I'm over it already. Ange will have learned a lot about the rest of this squad, and why we are in rebuild mode. None of those 9 players will likely feature much again in the league.
This has tickled me for some reason...9. Levy grr
