You're a good poster and I agree with your posts on here about Postecoglou. I think he's a breath of fresh air and will knuckle down and get on with the job with whatever he's given. He's clearly a fighter and an underdog throughout his career, and I love how positive and honest he is. I'm genuinely over the moon to see us playing front-foot attacking football again.

I wasn't just having a moan and I'm sorry if it came across that way. I was simply posting an article I thought others might find useful, as it had some comments from Postecoglou about how the large squad has negatively affected training, and as the article author says, affected incomings.

I then added a sentence of commentary because I think the failure to move on players over the years has left us with a suboptimal squad situation for our new manager. To me, that's not setting him up for success. It wasn't just a dig, it was my view about the contenr I'd shared.

I'm not someone who goes into every thread to moan about Levy. I thought the article about Postecoglou was interesting and thought I'd share it with others.
Thanks, apologies if it seemed like I was having a pop.

The reality is that we are 2-3 good signings off having a squad that can compete, imo.

I get people are frustrated, they are entitled to feel the way they do.

However, I'm willing to wait and see what happens. I'm still working on a clean slate.

This window feels like a culmination of too many transfer mistakes over the last 4 years.

And so the seeds of Ange’s eventual downfall are sown.

‘He won’t stand up to Daniel Levy because he’s just happy to have this job’.

I‘m almost surprised it took this long. (Then again, perhaps someone already had this opinion before his signing and I just missed it.)

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Edit: just so we’re clear - this is not an opinion I hold. I am merely commenting on the fact that this opinion exists now.

I was reading shit like that as soon as he was appointed. The only way to silence them is to perform on the pitch. Huge test today.

I suppose it is the obvious one. But 100% with you. He strikes me as the kind of guy who would let the football do the talking. Either way, happy to back him and give him the time he needs to implement his vision.

Have to admit, I rarely watch manager interviews, probably because I never wanted to the personalities of conte/mourinho etc, but I ange comes across as a very normal bloke, no arrogance, wants to work hard etc

just hope we give him the time and resources now
Sorry chuckled to myself at the last bit of time and resources..... no chance under Levy he won't be backed financialy and be made the scapegoat if we have a bad season instead of Levy and ghe players.
Agree with everything else you said.

Exactly. He can't really lose by taking this job.
When the previous 2 managers were serial winners who both failed to win anything here, it's not going to be a stain on his CV if he doesn't manage it...yet if by some miracle he does then that's a massive achievement.

It’s not going to be a stain on our previous two managers CV’s either if anything managing spurs and failing just makes the club look worse and worse every time.

One of the many reasons I want Ange to succeed, even though it’s a very minor reason.

Given the tools, Ange could be the manger to take us to silverware. His interviews are spot on, and as someone said earlier, he’s a fighter and that will translate onto the pitch.
He will definitely go toe to toe with the teams like UTD, City, Liverpool etc.
But....there’s that looming shadow that could scupper it all.

I do wonder about this. If Daniel Levy we’re to end up sacking Ange within the first 18 months, one would hope that there would be at least some who question exactly what kind of manager he is then actually able to work with.

Totally agree mate. It annoys me rhat our manager is always the scapegoat and never the same players and Levy.
I think we are on to a good thing with Ange and if Mr Tight backed him with a CB and a striker i think it could result in a good season. But i doubt that tskes priority over profit for Levy. Days are ticking away and looking more and more unlikely that Ange will be backed more.

It would be a huge sign of a problem seems as Ange looks like the perfect fit for the fans, the squad and the club in general.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Hugs test, yes but the (ridiculously) impatient fans need to realise that Rome wasn't built in a day.

I genuinely think the overwhelming majority of fans will back Postecoglou through this transition, assuming we aren't in the bottom three or something crazy like that. They'll also give him more time because of the attractive style of play that we've always been associated with.

I think those fans will be far less patient with club management. Because after Poch, Mourinho, Conte and now Postecoglou, the blame can't fall on the manager yet again.

Exactly, we won’t see the best of us until a few months. The system takes time and it’s clear we are 2-3 players away from a team to suit.

Yet we still get supporters using the term ‘he’s worth a punt’ on players they don’t really know anything about 🤣🤣. it’s those punts (no rhyming slang), that’s got us into the bloated squad mess

Don’t agree with that really - hiring two defensive managers for a squad built to play possession football, unwillingness to move on senior players until they reached the point where noone wanted them, and a poor scouting and recruitment network pre-Paratici got us into this mess. Our punts especially since Fab have been fairly good, Spence and maybe Gil excepted.

Seeing the line up I’m changing my predictions, I think there will be 75 goals in this game and we will end the night on +1 GD in the league.

My wife: “I wish you spoke about me as well as you speak about Ange.”

Me:”You get us playing football like this and I’ll drown you in compliments too.”
