There was a report this morning that Manchester United were considering putting a bid together to sign Tom Huddlestone. I think the reporter plucked 16m out of the sky himself.

Whether there is anything to the story is anyones guess but I believe there would be a place in the Man Utd side for him. With scholes not able to play as much these days and hargreaves always injured they are likely to be looking for someone so why not an improving young englishman?

I wouldnt like us to sell him but for 16m I think I could deal with it and sign diarra as his replacement.

they are a spent force, with no money.
We cant make them stronger as in a few years with their money woes, we could overtake them. COYFS

Aren't they interested in Bale, Modric and VDV too?

At least it shows how far we've come now that they're looking at several of our players. But they can kindly fuck off.

There was one at the weekend saying Wilson.

If they were interested in van der vaart wouldnt he have either went there or it would be public knowledge that he turned them down. Unlikely that he would have turned them down.

it's all a smokescreen....it's rejuvenated hutton he is after.

I know you're joking, but that's not actually all that unrealistic.

After we signed Hutton, Ferguson said he could be one of the best right-backs in the premiership. I think the were also interested in signing him from Rangers, but wouldn't pay the price we were willing to.

If we sold any of our better players to the likes of United, id be really pissed off, unless it was for the £30m plus. Maybe in the past I could see why Carrick, Keane & Berbatov left us( and to a certain extent those sales helped to get where we are now), but you have to look at that United side and there aren’t the side they once were, and for use to sell to them would strength them and weaken us. Id Rather us sell to city as we would get an over inflated price for the players and you would have to think that in the next two seasons the title will be just down to them and Chelsea, and for us then challenge Arsenal and United for 3rd and 4th.

Right fullback is one of their obvious weak links. Neville is finished, Brown is past his best, O'Shea ain't particularly good and that leaves Rafael has the only positive alternative and he's liable to be sent off at least 3 or 4 times a season.

Based on the above, Hutton could start to be picked up on Fergie's radar if he continues to deliver performances like he did on Saturday.

Just because we sell to united (not that I think we will) doesnt mean we lack ambition. Sometimes if a bid comes in for a player for example huddlestone. He is a good player but if a bid such as 16-20m came in I think the club would have to look at it seriously as there are players just as good as him for less

If he left he would quickly go the way of Carrick. I love The Hudd, but he needs to be loved and have a safe position in the team. Rotating the squad would ruin him, much like it has Carrick. Even if there is truth in this, which I very much doubt, surely Hudd would look at MC and stay right where he is!

Can just imagine all the clueless glory hunters getting on his back from day one as he's not fast enough. Focusing on his negatives rather than the positives. Classic fickle United fans. The same ones that all of a sudden love Berbatov. Not lazy now is he?

It would be a serious mistake to let Huddlestone go. He has been a mainstay in Harrys team from day 1. I also think there are few players like him across Europe. Even if we were to find one, it would be a big risk trying to get him to settle in England and the English style. Not only does Huddlestone have the technical ability but he has the physical aspects aswell.

Losing Huddlestone would have a similar effect to Liverpool losing Alonso. We wouldn't realise it until we lost him, but it would be a big loss.

Really !!!

I'd snap their arm off for £20m. I like him but he isn't as big a game changer as Bale, Mdric, VDV, Lennon etc and he isn't as good as Carrick.

But he is very young with bags of potential. Think about where he was just two years ago and how much he's improved. It's not like he is in his prime now, he is just beginning his real career.

I wouldn't sell him at this point.

Have to say i disagree with this entirely. (whilst the whole story is based on nothing anyway)

You've listed 4 fairly attacking players as game changers. That's quite an easy shout in my opinion. In all fairness it's players like Hudd who allow the more quick, skillful and threatening to do what they do best going forward.

Whilst it's only opinion - I think Hudd has been an entirely different player over the past season or so - he's played some excellent stuff and has also added some touches and mobility to his excellent vision and passing.

In regards to your last point, take a look at the past 18 months for Carrick and compare them to Huddlestone. Whilst i would note that form is temporary, at this rate i can see Carrick making a backward step. England also seem to have noticed this (not that England is much to go by!) and Huddlestone is above him in the pecking order.

Give it a couple more years and if he keeps shining, you'd be gutted if you sold him for 20million.
