MOM for us, frankly it's a straight choice between our fans and the bus driver ! At least they executed their duties well and deserve credit, as for the rest the less said the better......

The overriding feature of our season has been our clueless defending, it needs to be addressed!!

Useless, pathetic, gutless, weak...could go on for a while. Looked like the players were having an extra day off today, no tracking back or movement of any kind.

The thing is, for me a result like this was coming. All season we have been letting in goals even against shit teams that can barely score for toffee. Couple this with the fact that I don't think we've been able to create clear chances consistently and have picked up a lot of points through long distance late strikes, I think something like this was always on the cards. Too many lazy, negative, rabbit in headlights performances today and we got a lesson in what a good, pressing and wrll organised off the ball performance is. Pochettino, for me, has barely managed to get us organised all season. Our finest hour this season against Chelsea was more Sherwood than Sherwood himself.

Thing is when you have one goal scorer like Kane (supported by Eriksen's and to a certain extent Chadli's goals) then to concede fourteen goals in the last six games it's impossible to have a chance of winning without Kane hitting top form week in week out. Impossible.

It's all very well bragging about having the youngest team in the PL, and Poch giving chances to teenagers, but if for fucks sake spend some time on the defence. Nothing has changed in six games defensive wise, i mean bring back in Fazio or Chiriches for a game or two. You just cannot go on week in week out selecting the same players with the same issues!

Dude, I massively agree we've been poor in the majority of games is season and have said it numerous times. It's the reason why the jury is still out on poch for me. But we are 7th for a reason. It's where we deserve to be.
I am surprised we are 7th... we are still being flattered. IMO.

To be honest, we were sucker punched today. I don't think anyone realised United had a performance like that in their locker, and by the time we worked it out it was too late.
It's really difficult to judge how good Utd were today, were they really that good or were we really that bad ?

pretty abysmal from about the 3rd minute onwards, less said about the pathetic defending the better but we played zero football either and where did all of these useless hoofs forward come from? we haven't resorted to that crap for ages. the team was wrong, poch is showing himself to be stubbornly unadaptable and it just felt like a return to our wilting days. however disappointing that game was though, i'm not going to partake in all of the typical rhetoric about how all of our players are useless and need replacing. it's a process, this was a bad blip but it's been a positive progression upto this point and hopefully the team doesn't dwell on a terrible day at the office.

Totally agree.

It is a learning process and we've still made immense strides under Pochettino and this young group of players so far.

I really hope that Poch has learned from that today though and I hope he shows it by reverting back to the side that blitzed Arsenal that day.

If he wants us to press high and aggressively don't pick the likes of Townsend and Chadli, pick the players who've already proved it.

Vertonghen interview;

Interviewer; What did the manager tell you at half time? Did he need to say anything?

Jan; He told us to show some balls.

Who in their right mind presses high at Old Trafford?

To compound it our defence has been a shambles from the start of the season to now.

I think you're a glass half full kind of guy because I fail to see these great strides we have made this season.

Jaysus bluddy wept!

Look, that was our hardest game on paper. The general opinion was that we would lose it. Most of the predictor thingies have us pushing for the top four even after losing this game. That is the best United have played in a long time, spurred on by their capitulation against the Goons, and that is probably the worst we have played all season (or, at least, for several months). We have 27 points to play forward, will probably play out of our skin for the rest of the season as a reaction to this performance, and have a good chance of winning every remaining game. United, the Goons and Liverpool all have to play one another, United also play Citeh, and all three have to play Chelsea, two of them at Stamford Bridge.

And you want to throw the towel in?

It may be slightly hardest for is than if we'd won today - wow, really, I'd never have guessed. But all of our rivals will drop at least some points - it is impossible for at least most of them to not drop some, and I will be utterly gobsmacked if even won of them doesn't drop another point all season, whereas we actually could go on an extended run.

Agree.....and i believe this team will react,i believe this team will win its next bunch of games because it will be hurt and embarressed after today.....but we won't get 4th and tbh right now i don't really care.

Today was a wake up call, we have players who need to be replaced, but one horror show must not mean we go into meltdown.

I agree about him not sorting the defence out but Fazio and Chiriches are not the answer. The former has played more suicide passes than I care to remember this season.

You know you've had a bad day when Fellaini is looking like a world beater...

And not just in the air but actually running past players and drilling the ball into the corner with his wrong foot (actually he's usually so bad on the ground I'm not sure which foot is his preferred)

Don't know if we've been over trained this week but that's about as slow and lethargic as I've seen us look this season, and that's without 12 games in a week.

Same. I'm not seeing these strides either and our football is turgid.

Hard to argue with you dude. Trouble is we are inconsistent to boot. One week we thrash Chelsea, the next we draw with Burnley, and the week after that we lose to Crystal Palace.

We were hanging on for life the last quarter of the game against Chel$ea, and we'd netted five. One poster has already said 18th worst defence and 1.5 goals a game conceded. If Poch cannot see where the problem lies then we are really up shit creek. He has to change the back four for our next game, it's plain stupidity to start the same back four again and has bugger all to do with who the two central midfielders are. You cannot expect them to cover the defence every time the opposition has possession.

Past good performances against Arsenal etc. don't just become flukes just because we've played poorly today, that doesn't make any sense
I agree but even those performances were flawed, in the arsenal game it was one way traffic but we werent creating clear cut chances and it was just half chances. It took a masterclass from Kane to win it for us but had they not missed two sitters, it would of been a loss.

Well sadly spurs will always have days where they are gutless, spineless, rudderless and have the wrong attitude on the pitch. After 5 minutes i knew wed get mullered. Bottling tackles, puzzling and lazy long ball tactics, appalling energy and application. All on show from minute 5 to minute 45. Chadli was fucking atrocious and should have been dragged not townsend. Lloris was very poor for first 2 goals. No communication between the players at all. Verts body language was fuckin dirt. And dier was a wimp, fucking piss poor. Really a future england cb? I think hes promising but has been responsible for a lot of our goals against this yr. Fazio and dembele should have started

Souness in the post game was absolutely spot on about us today. Im disgusted with spurs today. Every time players (this time Townsend) come out with 'we play with no fear' i cringe because we invariably go and do just that.

It's not the formation, it's that neither Bentaleb or Mason think like defensive midfielders.

Not their natural game.
