We are a novice team, a work in progress. Nowhere near ready to get in the top four. Today showed we are miles away. Next season, who knows...COYS

Poch wears a suite and we loose! #bringbackthetracksuite
Office suite, three piece suite with matching ottomans...? I didn't notice what he was wearing, apart from a guilty look first half with a thought bubble saying, "Oh f..ck! I royally f...ed up today! I hope they blame my suit!"

Wow, only just seen the result as I've been doing dad duties, sounds like the first half was a Mother's Day massacre...
Can't believe Dembele didn't start, he always has a decent game against them, likewise Fazio to combat Fellaini, doesn't make any sense to me and I didn't even watch the game....

Well at least we know now that champions league is not gonna happen. Better to know early in the long run I suppose. Thats the only positive I could fathom from today.... :(

Jaysus bluddy wept!

Look, that was our hardest game on paper. The general opinion was that we would lose it. Most of the predictor thingies have us pushing for the top four even after losing this game. That is the best United have played in a long time, spurred on by their capitulation against the Goons, and that is probably the worst we have played all season (or, at least, for several months). We have 27 points to play forward, will probably play out of our skin for the rest of the season as a reaction to this performance, and have a good chance of winning every remaining game. United, the Goons and Liverpool all have to play one another, United also play Citeh, and all three have to play Chelsea, two of them at Stamford Bridge.

And you want to throw the towel in?

It may be slightly hardest for is than if we'd won today - wow, really, I'd never have guessed. But all of our rivals will drop at least some points - it is impossible for at least most of them to not drop some, and I will be utterly gobsmacked if even won of them doesn't drop another point all season, whereas we actually could go on an extended run.

pretty abysmal from about the 3rd minute onwards, less said about the pathetic defending the better but we played zero football either and where did all of these useless hoofs forward come from? we haven't resorted to that crap for ages. the team was wrong, poch is showing himself to be stubbornly unadaptable and it just felt like a return to our wilting days. however disappointing that game was though, i'm not going to partake in all of the typical rhetoric about how all of our players are useless and need replacing. it's a process, this was a bad blip but it's been a positive progression upto this point and hopefully the team doesn't dwell on a terrible day at the office.

Just a note on stats.
The stats showed we were shit.
The stats also showed that Man Ure were not as good as the score suggests.
Now, if we had put in a performance up to our usual standards, the pressing, the high tempo, etc then I think we would have beat them, therefore I believe it was just a particularly bad day at the office!!
stats shmats. If United had really gone for it, they couldve easily score more in the second half. They were happy for us to keep the ball because we were completely toothless and would lose it eventually. They put their feet up second half, it was a piss easy day at the office for them.

Here you go:

Goals conceded over last three months in the PL only: 3,0,1,1,1,0,3,2,1,0,1,3,3,2,2,1,3,

That's not really inconsistent at all. I't common knowledge that we simply cannot defend.

For a coach who played in defence for club and country it's not really acceptable. And for all those saying that this is not his team, nor are the teams that Pulis, Pardew and Sherwood inherited and in half the time that Poch has had, have made inroads into reducing the number of goals conceded.

It is no longer an excuse to use players inherited as the reason for piss poor defending as far as i am concerned. Like i said in an earlier posting, this side is playing very much like it was under Ardiles, and we all know how that ended up. Any team purposing to be of CL making has a defence worth a shit, and we have a chicken headed right back, failed left winger at left back and two centre half's who at times play like it's there first game together. Lloris must top up on fucking Valium before every game.

Spot on i have also mentioned pulis before on how quick he sorts out the defence its quite impressive.
I hope poch suceeds but at southampton the team started to tail off and concede more goals as the season went on plus his time at espanyol wasnt great either i think they were flirting around the bottom spots.

Hard to argue with you dude. Trouble is we are inconsistent to boot. One week we thrash Chelsea, the next we draw with Burnley, and the week after that we lose to Crystal Palace.

It was a desperate "this is shit, give it to Kane to do something" tactic. The lad never stood a chance.

We have the 16th worse defence in the league. We have conceded exactly 1.5 goals on average per game meaning we typically need 2 goals at least to win a game. Sometimes you need to win ugly and a scrappy 1-0. We are unable to do this - given
14 in the last 6 is appalling....

To be honest, we were sucker punched today. I don't think anyone realised United had a performance like that in their locker, and by the time we worked it out it was too late.

What performance? United didn't have to do much to win that. They started the game nervously, typified by the Jones mistake.

We were exceptionally poor today. Line up was wrong but make no mistake we absolutely gifted that game to United.

Neville is so wide of the mark with his assessment on the game IMO.

I'm not even bothering watching the first hour of MNF tomorrow night. Its almost as if Gary was thinking ahead to that with his eulogy in mind.

Moments went against us in the match that could have made it a different story...

If Kane leaves the ball from the corner Verts has a tap in.
If Chadli had awareness and left the ball instead of lamely poking it straight to Carrick's head Lloris catches a simple ball.
If Bentaleb doesn't blindly pass the ball straight to Rooney or then fouls him.
Not to mention how close to bouncing over De Gea's foot the backpass from Jones was.

But in truth we got what we deserved for such an inept and insipid display.
The amount of individual mistakes is becoming frightening again.
