One young wing-back on Spurs' radar is Lyon's 21-year-old Malo Gusto, a Ligue 1 regular with European experience and seen as the next big talent in French football.

With 18 months left on his contract, the France U21 international ticks the boxes of Tottenham's transfer profile although he would need to develop his attacking output to impress Conte with just one assist so far this season, adding to his five from the previous campaign.

Yes please. He is the RB I track with in ligue1. I know some will say why would he be given chance when Spence didn’t get chance….. Two reasons :

1) Even though 19 he already has played 1 season in ligue1 and a EL stages and done extremely well . Spence unfortunately not experienced enough

2) Spence hasn’t had much chance to be educated & play in international setup - just 4 youth games. Gusto is part of French setup at levels. I think this is overlooked in Spence narrative

Gusto has done quite well in some big games.

He is quite offensive and has best crossing accuracy in French league

I feel he is more suited to PL than Porro for the RWB role when he gets up to speed

Interesting perspective, particularly thinking he'd be better than porro. Tbf I've only watched porro against us but thought he was very handy.

Whilst I've criticised Conte for not playing Spence, I think it's probably a bit too far to think he'll never play a 19 year old on principle. Sure it must go on case by case.
We should however never buy a rwb who isn't ready to immediately play a big role this season.

From highlights etc he plays a lot like Walker - properly robust!

Can't help but think if he ticks the boxes of Tottenham's transfer profile he wouldn't need to develop his attacking output. If he does need to then surely he doesn't tick the boxes.

I for one would love if Boehly and Co. were doing the same for us. It’s absolutely annoying since it’s at the benefit of Chelsea, but I am not ashamed to say I am Uber-envious.
