He was doing what ever he could to help his team win. I don't like it, but it's part of the modern game. The difference between him and someone like Neymar is he didn't stop sprinting till the death. Obviously Neymar is world class, but Lozano has a tone of ability and high work rate... And can play as a CF for what it's worth. It's why I want him here.

Sure, I agree. I'm just not fond of people falling over constantly to help their team. He is a talent though.

It will be interesting to see whether he will start, be on the bench or even make the squad for Barcas second leg cup game tonight against Levante. He started the first leg one week ago.

I believe it's already been confirmed he is not in the 18 man squad, whereas Denis Suarez is.

This isn't about the long term, it's about treading water this season. Dembele has barely been a factor this season, of course he needs to be replaced long term, but we have been fine without him and will be fine without him.

We need immediate help up front, hence the ITK saying we are looking at loan deals.

I disagree, we have much better cover in the forward positions than we do in midfield, and Malcom is not the type of player we need to help cover up front in the short term.

Even though he isn't what we need right now, the fact that we are considering him probably tells us that Poch and his team consider him an elite level prospect which we can't pass on. He has certain similarities with Hazard primarily his 1v1 ability that would be so valuable to us as it is the one thing we are still missing in our team to unlock teams.

As many have mention this might be the signing that switches us to a 433 allowing Eriksen and Dele to both play in midfield similarly to City where Silva and De Bruyne are playing more centrally and deeper than they are used in their careers as more traditional #10.

Not against the signing, short term he cover for Son's absence. While long term, "when" Eriksen leaves we can focus on replacing him with a top class central midfielder - like it seem we're after if the de Jong rumour was true.

We should have agreed a loan deal with Barca this morning, flown him here this afternoon and registered him tonight with FA so he can be in squad for weekend. That’s if we were going to be proactive, I remain convinced we will just ride out these next two weeks in a sea of rumours and just wait till Son comes back at beginning of February.

As Poch said Kane’s injury won’t change our approach to window and randomly getting a player in on loan would be quite reactive albeit in my opinion a good signing who would slot in nicely. He would allow us to play a fluid front 4 until Kane gets back.

With international clearance this isn't a deal that can be done in that sort of time. No point hanging round though if you want it done.

Now there's a player I mentioned on Saturday in the 'General Transfers' thread

Surprised he hasn't been connected with us. Don't know much about him though, so perhaps he's not that highly rated anymore?

PS Not that I'm trying to derail this thread or anything :cautious:

Loan deal for Malcom/ a FWD.. can in some way solve our CM issues as well.. The level of CM we want/need is literally never going to happen in a January window. Another FWD option and it allows Dele or eriksen to play deeper alongside Dier or Winks. Dele playing deeper especially against Chelsea second half actually strengthened our defence IMO. Both always look to play forward through the lines as well so could work quite nicely.. false 9 against lesser teams of Dier Dele Eriksen lamela Moura Malcom sounds pretty good to me

Back on topic, in an ideal world we'd have 6 AMs and 2 CFs

However, 6 AMs (one or two of which can cover for Kane) and 1 CF would be sound

So I don't think signing another one is necessarily a bad call

Of course CM is the real priority for us, but that doesn't mean you don't strengthen other parts of the squad if the chance arises

Roma really wanted him too and thought they’d signed him. How come they haven’t been mentioned as a possible destination I wonder.

My guess is they don't want anything to do with dealing directly with Barca and are additionally probably put off by the player bolting on them. I'd have to imagine we wouldn't have gone back in for Willian if he'd have been unhappy at Chelsea the January after he left the medical with us!

Because Malcom mugged them off so badly, Monchi had to do an interview with the club TV channel to explain what happened.

Haven’t we got until 12 pm tomorrow to register a play in time for Sunday?? Still time to get a striker and a centre mid in ?
