If this is true (big if), it's a good signing IMO. People say we don't need any more attacking players but with Son and Kane currently unavailable and considering Lamela's fitness issues, Malcom will definitely get game time. Loan with an option to buy, with an affordable fee = no brainer.

He plays as an inverted LW and has a hammer of a left foot. He'd certainly offer goals from distance from what I've see which is never a bad thing. I'd sooner tie up a decent CM but that shouldn't stand in the way if a decent deal for another play crops up.

Why do I have the feeling we're being name-dropped and used to get him a loan elsewhere?

I kinda believe it to be honest. Trix saying we'd look into loans after Kane got injured. Player we almost went for a year ago. We've had plenty of dialogue with Barca in recent years over Gomes too.

Doesn't directly solve the Kane cover, but gives us more AM options after pushing Son/Lucas/Lamela into a forward role. As others have said his long range shooting would come in handy too.

I hope we're keeping a file of all these players who were of interest to us who subsequently disappeared into obscurity when they got their 'dream' move (usually to Chelsea). Would be handy to show said file to potential signings in future.

We rotate the files every season!

Another thing to note is that we now have no rotation for the likes of Lamela, Eriksen and Alli with Son, Kane and Lucas out. Therefore it may make more sense to focus on bringing in players who can help create rather than direct strikers as these will be much tougher to bring in and if we lose any of the aforementioned to injury we won't even be creating chances any longer either!

If this is true would hope it’s an optional purchase at the end of the loan not a mandatory one
I imagine the loan will include particular appearance or performance targets that will trigger a compulsory option. If he’s shite, he’ll just be locked in the basement with Nkoudou and Janssen

not quite sure how to react to this (if true and it happens).

not because i have a particular view on whether he is good enough, needed etc.

but because i forgot long ago how to react to us actually signing a player.

I'd like to believe it's true...yet...

We'll see!

Could be a class signing - looked very good for Bordeaux. Loan sounds realistic, but I'm sure it's as bollocks as all links between us and players are atm.

Would also open up the option of dropping Dele into CM without decimating our attacking options. Hmmm! Interesting.

I could see this if we are still thinking of moving Llorente on as it allows Son to move to main striking back up.

We were obviously in for him before, so I guess it's plausible that we'd be interested again at the right price.

Would definitely be a decent addition, and we massively need the bodies at this point.
