So if they can't register these players? Are they stuck in football limbo or what happens?

How long has there been a wage cap in La Liga? I cynically thought that La Liga did everything they could to protect Barca and Madrid, but imposing a cap on wages and non EU players (per Ally Gold) has clearly not helped.

They can play in the Champions League but not La Liga, can't make any changes until the next transfer window.

La Liga's FFP is different to the rest, it's based on the future and not the past, it's designed to stop clubs from overspending...

There isn't a wage cap per se, you can pay players whatever you want just don't offer what you can't afford.

They are in a not too dissimilar boat aren’t they?
Madrid have had issues but not even close to Barcas. They took a Covid hit like everyone else but they're in fairly decent nick now with the Bernabeu redevelopment almost completed. This is last year's report but paints a relatively healthy picture.

Madrid have also reduced their wage bill in recent seasons (to fund the Mbappe move) but stayed competitive, Barca are in a league of their own.

They are gambling on increased revenue streams.

Incredibly high risk with a global recession on its way.
Or selling at the top for what would be reduced tv income going forward.

Im sure they aren’t that clever though to be doing that

did I get it wrong? they couldn't pay de jong's wages and threat to sue him if he refuses to reduce his wages???

Criminal charges mean the Fuzz getting involved and the possibility of someone going to prison. Could just be bollocks made up to pressure de Jong, but then again Bartomeu is a dodgy fucker.

Charming club ?

If you are to judge by the reaction of the fans, Martin Braithwaite is not a popular man at FC Barcelona.

On Sunday evening, FC Barcelona played a match against Mexican Pumas in the annual showdown before the start of LaLiga, called the Juan Gamper Trophy. Before the game, all the Barcelona players ran onto the field one by one.

Most were met with great applause - especially the newly acquired players such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphina and Andreas Christensen. But when it was the Danish striker's turn, he was greeted by a loud chorus of whistles.

He had a smile on his face as he started his entrance. However, it quickly disappeared.

It's no secret that Braithwaite looks like a finished man at Barcelona.

The negativity at the stadium may have fertile ground in the fact that Barca - according to Spanish SPORT - wants to cancel the contract, so that the Dane leaves the club clean and free, as they already have major financial problems.

But Braithwaite wants full pay for the two years he has left on his deal - which he is also entitled to.

FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, should have said that Martin Braithwaite knows he has to find another place to play.

- Umtiti and Braithwaite? Both now understand that it is time to find another club.

Well... pay them first. Apparently you can throw money left and right for other players... ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️

I hope it ends up with Braithwaite taking them to court. Mind you, Braithwaite is already quite wealthy due to real estate deals he does in USA, so he probably has enough money and legal contacts if Barca tried to do something illegal or pressure him into leaving without paying him what he's due. Also, **** the stupid fans who are mad at Braithwaite and NOT the club for the current predicament they're in.

I'm sickened by the fact I spent my childhood in awe of Barcelona; visiting the stadium before my teens, and loving many of their great players.

The way they've behaved for years means I've now flipped 180, to the point where I hope they receive the harshest of sanctions and/or cease to exist. Despicable ****s.

I have always hated the lot of them, im a Valencia fan... man what a team they had - Aimar, Gonzales, Mendieta...then Villa and Silva... so ive never liked Barcelona....

I do hope they fold, but they wont... I hope though De Jong doesnt back down... id sue the fuckers personally.

Why would anyone go to Barcelona - theyre big and huge etc but fuck me theyre a disgrace- they cant even register the players haha
