Didn't know Luongo was a Spurs fan. Isn't he meant to be an exciting prospect too? Cheers for the link mate.

I think last summer he was considered the gem of the academy by some. Hopefully they are right.

Giancarlo Gallifuoco is a prick. He tweeted a few weeks ago, that we only offered him a 3 year deal. And said he could get a 5 year deal at Chelsea, Arsenal or West Ham. He's a first class prick.

That account had been hacked. Although he might be a prick....I hear he doesn't recycle and he didn't like the Kony video on his facebook account.

Luongo impressed me in the Next Gen. He was playing CM with strong, aggressive, Liverpool players crashing into him and giving him no time. But Luongo kept on trying to get the ball down to play, and his head up to see what was on.

It also looked like Deadwood may have had some influence on him, because Luongo was perfectly prepared to mix it physically. He didn't let the scousers intimidate him.

Two years ago, Ryan Mason looked the "gem" of the Academy to me, but he's been unlucky with injuries, and he hasn't seemed to get physically stronger. Technically he's excellent, and he reads the game so well, but none of the teams he's been on loan to seem to know whether he's a wide midfielder, a striker, an ACM.

There are real opportunities for several of our youngsters in pre-season to stay at Spurs and play in the cups. So, step up any two or three of: Mason, Luongo, Kane, Carroll, Townsend, Adam Smith, Bostock, and a year or two younger, the likes of Coulibaly, Veljkovic and Gomelt.

And Caulker has to stay and play.

That's typical. It's always 'I was hacked' tripe. Just like when Adebayor argued with some Goonies on his Twitter, it was 'Hacked'. I personally don't believe that story, but to each and their own.

I genuinely believe Gallifuoco was hacked. It was written from a Blackberry phone, when all of his other tweets are from an iPhone. The writing style was uncharacteristic etc. - it wasn't him. He's been slagging the Gooners off since; he's a yiddo.

Not only that, but it makes no sense - If he was unhappy with the contract we were offering, and could get a better one elsewhere, why didn't he?

Good summary, but think Mason's real position in the Academy (where he scored 30 goals in a season) was in the VDV role behind Obika - and unfortunately its not a position usually played in Championship teams, so this plus a lot of injuries means he has become almost invisible for 2 or 3 years now on loan. It would be fantastic if he recovers his academy form and played in the pre-season in the VDV role - or if not fit, think Kane could also play that role. If either made it in that role, it would be fantastic to have a back up for VDV.

Veljokic played in seveeral of last seasons pre-season games - a fantastic achievement for a then 15 year old even against League 1/Championsip teams. Looking forward to seeing him again this pre-season. Coulibally needs to improve his all round game but had a good year getting used to the English game - hopefully he will push on this season, still only 17 so plenty of time. Gomelt seems to be an interesting player happy to play RM, CF and even LB - would like to see how he copes at a higher level - but like Coulibally at 17 playing in under 19 NextGen and being a star at that level is quite a big achievement at that age.

But if I had to pick a shortlist of players ready to step up it would always include Luongo, Smith, Townsend, a fit Mason and the real Harry !

oh..and good find, thanks for posting the article

Am really hoping that with Europa, the new U21 league and NextGen we put some serious thought into which youngsters to loan and who to keep.

Europa B list eligible are (I think): Archer, Miles, Barcham, Smith, Byrne, Caulker, Stewart, Nicholson, Carroll, Parrett, Munns, Bostock, Pritchard, Fredericks, Townsend, Kane, Lancaster and Obika. The likes of Button, Rose, Falque, Ceballos, Luongo and Gallifuoco would require spots in the A list.

Eligible for the three Next Gen overage spots are (I think): Barcham, Stewart, Gallifuoco, Luongo, Munns, Pritchard and Kane.

Button, Rose and Falque would be overage for the U21 league. Not sure how many overage player they are allowing.

Have you seen the 3 clubs he mentioned in the tweet - Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham - our 3 biggest rivals.......... surely thats a hint that it was a wind up? Clearly hacked!

Shouldn't that be Bartham, as Andy Barcham is playing in the lower leagues now

From the NextGen games I watched Luongo and Pritchard impressed me the most. Hopefully they get a few first team appearances in the cups next season.
