I think it’s slightly unfair to compare this to Martinez, where the move was surely dependent on Kane leaving, or Dybala, where image rights/player were said to be the stumbling block. We are not selling a star asset this January, and there’s no image rights issue reported.

I can understand the hesitancy and maybe they won’t accept an offer we would be happy to go to. But what we know is an extremely reliable journalist has said we have offered €45m rising to €55m. It’s unlikely we do that unless we are serious about getting him. Also if we wanted the ‘we tried’ angle this news would have been broken by Ali Gold and Dan K, or Di Marzio and Fab.

It could also explain the Traore loan with obligation insistence - I highly doubt we have such a low amount of money available that we couldn’t make the first payment on that move this January. Clearly we have been saving our money for something else.

If liverpool are interested, then he must have something about him. They generally have a decent success rate with attackers
Carroll (£35M), Markovic (£20M), Borini (£13.3M), Benteke (£32.5M), Downing (£20M) and Balotelli (£20M) all say hi.

Not necessarily if Conte thinks he can have him playing central, maybe that's why there's noise on loaning Gill out.

I just can't see us paying out this kind of money without a sale and Bergwijn is the only player who we know another team has actually bid for.

We're probably going to move Bergwijn on if we sign this guy, IMO.

I wouldn't be so sure.

Son/Diaz & Lucas/Bergwijn gives us two options on each side which is what we need.

Alternatively, Conte may well see Bergwijn as better utilised somewhere between a Dele replacement and a 2nd striker.

Good. I was getting worried we wouldnt have the half hearted out of nowhere end of window big bid to trot out the “we tried & tried but couldnt get it over the line” nonsense from the club this window. So this is a relief.

Well I felt earlier in the week that something big must be happening to be moving on dele, Lo Celso and Tanguy and here we are.

According to this, Porto would only receive 80% of any transfer fee. The other 20% would be given to his old club.

I severely doubt they would accept 45m euros.

Ohhh this could be the classic Gio move, high loan fee, smaller actual fee.

Both fair points, I just think with the way we operate, it's unlucky we'll be spending that kind of money without a confirmed sale.

Ndombele, Lo Celso & Dele all sound like potential loans at the moment with no guaranteed obligation to buy?

All rumours at the moment anyway, innit.

Well we're moving some really big names to make space:

Amazing how fast the tone goes from "This player is shit, why can't we try to sign good players", to then getting linked with a good player but it's that it must be the "we tried" link of the window.

Maybe eventually we'll get linked with G. Oldilocks, and it'll unite the fanbase as he's not too shit, but not too good either, but just right.

Personally just happy to see links to anyone!

The original journo who reported this has just spoke on Fabrizio Romano's stream and said we have made an official bid of €45mil with €10mil add-ons. Only club so far to actually make a bid for him and the deadline is confirmed for 48 hours.
