Would be very surprised if Moyes leaves but if he did and they got LVG, I'd happily take Moyes.

LVG please. Still got that feeling we could see him go to Spartak, lots of gooners in the office this morning saying they want him to replace Wenger.

I'd rather we appoint Pep. I'm talking about vaguely realistic scenarios in the manager merry go round.

The notion that Martinez has done well and so Moyes' success there is somehow now less impressive is a complete non sequitur. They are both two very talented and different managers, at two clubs with different levels of pressure.

I was in favour of Moyes two years ago but recall get many fewer smart Alec remarks. I do find it odd that someone who suggests a manager with a proven EPL track record is ridiculed but then suggest a fashionable foreigner and it's all "oh yes he could take us to the 'next level'".

Would it be different if he were Daveed Moyez?

Because it's painfully obvious that Moyes is an average manager who's well and truly out of his depth at a top club, he's proven that with a number of basic errors.

Knowing the kind of politics in our club and a chairman with an itchy finger, do you think that Moyes would cut it with us? The only reason he's still at Utd is because he was SAF's recommendation otherwise he'd been out the door a long time ago.

It’s a lot easier to put nice funny clips than make an argument. The issue isn’t whether Martinez is a better manager, this isn’t a simple comparison between the two. I doubt very much that either he or Everton would think twice if we approached him in the summer. It would be a waste of time.

Moyes has made mistakes, so has every manager. But the point remains that if Moyes were to leave and we were to subsequently lose out on LVG, he could do well here. He gets his teams playing good football, defensively sound, gets points away from home (I believe United has the best away record), gets the best out of players and has a good eye for a player. An iffy start at the world’s biggest club doesn’t change that.

Ah, the old xenophobia argument. No, it wouldn't be different if he were 'Daveed Moyez'. It might be different if he was as good at being a football manager. That's as lazy an argument as me asking if you're related to him.

I am at a loss to understand how the performance of two managers with the same club can be complete secateurs - it's very relevant. Unless you think I'm criticising Moyes based on his performance with Utd against Martinez's performance with Everton? Because I'm not.

The point is this, Martinez is set to wipe out Moyes greatest achievement of 12 years there in one season and he's doing it by playing superior, multi-dimensional football. Martinez could justifiably come out and quote a bit of Harry 'Everton have never had it so good.'

I dispute that Moyes is 'a very talented manager'. He's good, as I've said before, but he plays a basic, direct style of football that is totally unsuited to us (and Utd).

I think you'll find that the general aversion to Moyes has more to do with his severe limitations as a manager and his industrial style of football than the fact he's not foreign. But if he's the drum you've chosen to bang then carry on.

Sorry, he has never had his teams playing good football, he is just another Martin O'Neil style manager, who has always set up his teams to play a direct style which is main reason he has been unsuccessful at Utd. He also does not get the best out of players...do the Everton players from his tenure look better or worse under Martinez, do the Utd players look better or worse than under Fergie? I don't like attacking other people's posts but everything you have written is just wrong...sorry.

Yeah, I still think he's a good manager and we could do a lot worse. It was always going to be difficult to replace Fergie. I still think it was a strange decision to go with Moyes though.

Doesn't change the fact that we missed out on Martinez big time. If we had just ditched this obssesion with a DOF and interfering in football matters we could have bagged a manager like Martinez or Rodgers. Too fucking late now though.

Some stuff from JJ on Twitter:

'haha, I wonder if daniel has actually got his man yet?..... probably not!'

JJ:

his man is whoring himself out with 1 eye on Man U as his first priority......

JJ on moyes:

they won't sack him this season I know that!

Whats chance of LVG to Spurs on scale of 10 ?
