Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso’s behaviour has completely changed under new manager Ange Postecoglou. That’s according to journalist Alasdair Gold, speaking about the 27-year-old on the Gold and Guest Podcast.

Gold said: “He [Ange Postecoglou] really loves the way [Giovani] Lo Celso plays, he fits his system perfectly and he felt that Lo Celso really enjoys the way they’re playing as well.

“That’s the key thing and Lo Celso’s different behind the scenes as well from what I understand.

“We could see it, we could see he’s a very happy guy. But I think before he was maybe a quieter character, someone that would mainly stick to that Argentine group they had with [Juan] Foyth and [Paulo] Gazzaniga and obviously when [Cristian] Romero came along as well.

“But I feel like now he’s naturally just grown up and matured, the years have done that. He’s 27 years old now, he became a dad for the first time last year.

“And he’s come back and he’s just involved with everyone, he’s a much more rounded character, very easy to please and that goes a long way I think, especially when you’ve got a new manager to impress.”

Hope he gets his chance and that Ange uses the bench a lot, as has been suggested. Plenty of rotation to keep them all onboard and up to speed. I want to see a lot of Sarr too.

In the 2 games (halves) he's played in pre-season, I've thought he's looked really good.

A couple of goals as well has shown he's getting into good positions and reading the play

Would be great if one of him or N'Dombele do work out and so far there has been barely any mention of N'Dombele

I just read the title and thought "He was a very naughty boy!"

Now hopefully he can be the messiah ;)

Lo Celso needs to settle down at one club. He's already 27 and in danger of his career passing him by without making a mark anywhere. Big money moves and an Argentina regular speak of his talent but he doesn't want to look back at a career of loan moves, transition seasons and failure to settle

I don't think it's quite his fault. He joined for Poch to play progressive football and ended up with with Nuno, Jose and Conte.
Hopefully, he will show what he can do here

He never was a PL player.

Playing well agaonst a pub team is no measure of quality.

LoCelso hasn't the game at Premier League level and no change of manager will alter that fact.

Ange probably knows a bit more about the game than you

I'd trust his decision whichever way he decides to go.

Poch, Jose, and Conte all knew volumes more than me on football, all who have all won more meaningful silverware than Ange.

But do go on.

You want me to list Ange's achievements? Much more than yours, but lets not hijack for now.

I'm a harsh critic of him, but it's not about what league of a player is he. If he puts in the effort to play, like the game against Liverpool in his 2nd season (or first?) with us I think which he absolutely ran the show, he has no problem flourishing in the league. And now under Ange, I think he is really enjoying himself and it is really a delight to see.

I think he will suit the system Ange wants to play far more than the systems employed by Nuno, Conte and Jose.

Lo Celso is literally a perfect fit for the left sided 8 role in Ange's system.
I'm going to bet that by week 3 of the season he's going to be cemented as a starter.

I wonder if they swap sides - Madders on the left and Lo Celso on the right - puts them on their strong foot when those cut-backs from the opposite wings come in.

Traditionally I would say:

Maddison/GLC - Sarr/Bentancur (Skipp til Bentancur is back)
Bissouma/Skipp

However I totally agree with you that under Ange we could be looking at (in certain situations):

Maddison/Bentancur - GLC/Sarr
Bissouma/Skipp

Obviously on Bentancur (when back), Sarr, and Skipp to earn their time and force Ange's hand, but can certainly see that midfield working if we're as dominate as glimpses have shown on the ball.

I have a mindset to currently say that midfield is a bit too attacking, even with GLC's workrate. But if we look at City's most common midfield last year, it could be a model of what we're after:

Gundogan/De Bruyne
Rodri

Without wishing to derail this thread - Jose got rid of De bruyne so let’s not hold him up too high as someone who can spot potential

What manager hasn't done similar?

Even Fergie was wrong on Pogba, and wasn't Rice released by Chelsea as a youngster?

LoCelso has played fifty five games for Spurs, scoring once. I can't recall one oustanding game.

He's just not built for the Premier League.

Time will tell.

Let's see how many Lion City Sailors he come's up against this season.

He had some brilliant games under Jose to be fair.
I'd rather give Gio another chance than Tanguy, Lo Celso has the combative spirit and tenacity, as well as skill to be a decent PL player in my opinion.
