Because if we're operating under this model, you probably have a list of 10-15 players that you'd be willing to go for if one doesn't work out. Can't get the first choice? Cross it off and move to the next.
But you can't be certain to the level where you're saying that the method clearly doesn't work with Spurs fans that's the reason this player has been chosen. You don't know that with any evidence, it is entirely possible it is for other reasons, it's entirely possible his profile came up on the data but that we ignored others who were better fits because of other factors such as being cheap and such as him being home grown.
So I'm disagreeing with your premise that Spurs fans can't work with this model when there's clearly remnants of older approaches that cast reasonable doubt.
