Wouldn't we have to pay more for that lolDoes Reggie go in the other direction for 6 months?

He will not be 4th choice for longYeah, if we can just scrape 75M together for our 4th choice CB.
A CB that can play LB has been on the rise in the Premier League with examples like Ake and Gvardiol at City and Burn at Newcastle.BTW
95 matches at CB in his career
75 matches at LB in his career
I think the answer to who that player is might very well be Kyle Walker-Peters... outstanding season with Southampton, very good in possession, drives play, can go both right and left.A CB that can play LB has been on the rise in the Premier League with examples like Ake and Gvardiol at City and Burn at Newcastle.
However, Ange uses a very different approach to fullbacks. Pep said the following:
“I would say my full-backs go inside, but their full-backs go into the pockets. They are attacking midfielders. I’ve never seen it before. I never used that. It belongs absolutely to him.”
I don't think it will be done in January, but in the summer we should definitely look for a player that not only can meet the technical demands that Ange requires but also someone that can do it on both the left and right hand side (maybe Illing-Junior at Juve can play on the right?).

For me I would love a back line of:
Udogie
Alfie Doughty (set pieces, creates chances, HG)
Van de Ven
Kelly (pacey, former captain, PL proven)
Romero
Dragusin (talked to death about strengths in his thread)
Porro
Emerson
That would probably be the most realistic "Ange" back four that would also fit budget, HG, future proofing
Disagree. Davies is 30, Phillips isn’t ready and Kelly can cover CB & LB and bargain and homegrown and Ange likes him lol, no brainer if we can get it done.Might be a controversial take but Ben Davies has been outstanding for us so I don't see the point of this. Some will mention the pace but Davies is no Fazio and he's actually coped fairly well with the high line this season.
Once the immediate RCB need is addressed, I think the smart play here is to wait until the summer regarding another CB and go into the next few months with Dragusin, Romero, Micky and Davies which is more than adequate. We can also see how Phillips fares on loan at a high level in the Championship.
I'm sure Kelly is decent but I think he could block Dorrington and Phillips from coming through, and I don't think he is a massive upgrade on Davies.
Bottom line is we shouldn't be signing him just because he's free if he doesn't improve us long term.
If only we had someone like him come through our youth academy.I think the answer to who that player is might very well be Kyle Walker-Peters... outstanding season with Southampton, very good in possession, drives play, can go both right and left.
I think Dragusin is being bought with the idea of him fighting for a first team spot, but at least he'll be the first rotational option for both RCB and LCB. Watching any clip of him on youtube you can see that he has been operating on both the left and right for Genoa.Disagree. Not for me, I just never really saw it with KWP.I think the answer to who that player is might very well be Kyle Walker-Peters... outstanding season with Southampton, very good in possession, drives play, can go both right and left.

Hes a decent little player but he's just too small and weak for the top level imo, good going forward but not so much at defending.
Isn’t he injured?
Also didn’t their manager comment on him a few weeks back saying he’s a big part of his plans and going nowhere
Europe next year, very demanding style of play, Romero suspension and injury prone, we need 4 top CB options if we are going to compete seriously. Romero & VDV as 1&2 and then Dragusin & Kelly as 3&4 with Kelly also able to cover LB sometimes would be a perfect balance.I think Dragusin is being bought with the idea of him fighting for a first team spot, but at least he'll be the first rotational option for both RCB and LCB. This is the optimal solution for me and something that Liverpool have been doing with Van Dijk, Konate and Matip where the last two get enough football to be happy.
Davies can then be 3rd choice and is better suited to that squad role then a younger English player that will be looking for a move within 6-12 months if he's not given enough minutes.
For a free transfer I wouldn't necessarily be against it if he has the right attitude and willingness to fight for a LCB spot next year with VDV, Dragusin and Davies (not at all likely that he will leave) and maximum 3rd choice at LB then fair enough.Europe next year, very demanding style of play, Romero suspension and injury prone, we need 4 top CB options if we are going to compete seriously. I'll be very surprised if we don't revisit in Jan. They won't lose him on a free next summer so will be working on a replacement now to get in early Jan so they can let Kelly leave. No idea on what he would cost but there will be a good few clubs interested I'm sure.
You could have been describing Porro before this season, though he’s a little thicker than KWP.Not for me, I just never really saw it with KWP.
