Anyone heard the latest.

Apparently..

  • Two bids have been made and accepted by 3 members of the board whom the Americans brought in to help find a bidder
  • The Americans are now trying to sack those same three members for accepting bids
  • Hicks statement says that the offers "dramatically undervalue" the club
  • Will vigorously resist any attempt to sell the club by the board without the owners agreement.

apparantly if RBS call in the loan, KOP Holdings would be in administration, not LFC.. therefor no 9 point penalty. This could be contested, as LFC is the only asset of Kop Holdings. In terms of whats going on, i support Gillet an Hicks in their stand, why should they sell an asset merely for the value of its debts? PS, i am loving this, and long may it continue. As for their fans, this is punishments for the hours upon hours which they have all bored people with tales of how they are a great club because of what won in the 70s and 80s.

Don't think we have to worry about that until at least January, regardless of new owners everyone knows that the current Liverpool squad is nowhere near good enough to challenge 4th, let alone the title.

sales is not yet going ahead... it is subject to the legal dispute being resolved, in court, in favour of directors of the company over the owners of the company.

Seriously - how can directors sell a company over the head of the owners? If the owners refuse to sanction the sale, how can it be forced through?

I think its because Christian Purslow and Martin Broughton are RBS appointments to the board which was a condition RBS extending the deadline for Statler and Waldorf's credit line.

Doesn't sound like the owners will be sugar daddies. That's good enough for me.

Hopefully the legal wrangling will go on for weeks and weeks and further destabalise the club and the players.

Can't help but think that the headlines stating the club has already been sold are a little premature, if Hicks and Gillette carry on fighting surely they can at the very least stall this and try and squeeze a few more million out of the new buyers.

Too emotinal about their club most of these Liverpool fans, they're bipolar. They will be on top of the world today convinced they are back on track.

One question for them, what position have Hicks and Gillett been playing for the last season and a bit? Full back? Centre half? Right wing?

Changes nothing on the pitch in the near future.

Liverpool supporting colleague says this too..

He believes owners don't have a legal foot to stand on, but I dont think anyone outside the actual appointments knows enough about what the actual conditions were (obviously) for anyone to be 100%. Either way, getting it locked up in court for any period of time has to be a bad thing for them.

It's still going to take a lot for them to be successful. I can't see Chelsea and Man Utd going anywhere soon. Arsenal have been buidling for years and they'll still be up near the top. Spurs have been building for the past few years and now closer to the top. Man City are continuing to splash money aswell. So Liverpool have a lot of work to do yet.

Not everyone can buy success. I still believe it takes years to build a great team now. I think Liverpool are a good couple of years behind the pack now.

It'll take a while for the legal dispute to get settled because things like that take time. Also weren't the Liverpool fans just as excited when Hicks and co rolled into town? Will this lot be any better? The Americans who own American sporting interests will always focus on them more than an English 'soccer' team so I don't think they'll be showering the Kop in cash.

Plus I bet they come in and get rid of Hodgson which will set them back a bit again. All in all I reckon Liverpool won't be up near the top 4 for a while.

It's obviously a positive move if it goes thru quickly and the burden of the debt is removed, they can then look to buy a couple of players in January or at the end of the season.

As others have said, the new owners don't appear to be anything like the owners of City or Chelsea so any spending on players and wages isn't going to blow everyone out of the water.

They still have the immediate issues on the pitch with a team and manager not performing very well and a very real risk of not being in the Champions League places for a 2nd successive year.

A relief for the supporters if this sale goes through quickly it definitely is but it's hardly the cure for all of their ills.

I think the Americans are in for a shock when they realize to win at football you have to lose all kinds of money.

Liverpool fans will be in for a shock when they see how unsentimental are the Red Sox were when it came to players. Manny Ramirez, Johnny Damon, and Pedro Martinez were are all discarded by the club when younger, cheaper and better options are found. For example, if they can find someone cheaper, younger, and better than Gerrard, they would have no qualms with moving him along.

There would be a 9 point penalty just like Southampton got
