Bristol City should take a leaf out of the Spammers book by making outrageous claims about now being the self proclaimed Champions of Europe who are even more massive than the Spammers on account of the fact that they've brought the so called Champions of Europe back down to earth.

This is extremely important both for WHU and for London, because their tenancy in that toilet-bowl of a stadium is so unstable.

Brady made a common and I think possibly fatal mistake: she thought getting the best possible deal meant screwing London and all the parties that represent London’s interests. But the best deals are the ones that suit both sides.

There is no way that deal survives its putative 99 year life, and given the soaring costs of just about everything, that is very bad news indeed for the smelly spammers who are 100% living on borrowed time.

Yes, Boris was incompetent, and as always incredibly short-sighted.

But Brady was also exceedingly short-sighted.

It appears she never gave a moment’s thought to anything beyond the immediate headlines of getting a 60,000 stadium before Spurs. That short-sightedness WILL bite them in the arse one way or another. Even if all that happens is they stay there and take over the costs of running and repairing, they’re looking at a sum that could have built them a proper football ground.

Instead they’ve got a horrible, bloated temporary athletics stadium that’s failing and that the fans largely detest, with huge problems looming.

That is not a good deal.

Still, they always have the FA cup to look forward to…..

Bristol City's goalscorer Tommy Conway was asked in an interview last night if playing against a Premier League side was very different to Championship teams and he said he didn't really see a massive difference from the Champo in the two games v West Ham. Not sure if he's being a bit cocky as he scored in both games but from a West Ham point of view that is pretty damning.

Is this true? Can't be bothered to go back and search, but I thought at the time that UK Athletics favoured the Spurs bid as it involved redeveloping the Crystal Palace stadium, so UK Athletics would have ended up with a permanent athletics stadium that was a sensible size rather than a part-time athletics stadium that could only ever be filled by an Olympics?

Yeah from memory the Rt Honorable Seb had an interest in a firm that then got the contract to renovate Crystal Palace’s athletics stadium, so he was keen to depart from the original plan of London Stadium becoming the home of UK Athletics. Something along those lines.

Yeah from memory the Rt Honorable Seb had an interest in a firm that then got the contract to renovate Crystal Palace’s athletics stadium, so he was keen to depart from the original plan of London Stadium becoming the home of UK Athletics. Something along those lines.

My memory is slightly different. Seb had a interest in the firm that would knock Crystal Palace down for housing etc. Something that wouldn't happen if Spurs bid succeeded (and didn't happen anyway). Seb also wanted a role in IOC so had to be seen pushing for legacy of the London Olympics. Our bid was by far the best for GB athletics, tax payer, Stratford (long term) and pretty much everyone apart from Seb Coe and West ham. lucky enough those dodgy ****s got what they wanted and things opened up around White hart lane so we could develop the best stadium without moving away from Tottenham.

That makes sense. I just remember that Coe’s involvement sounded completely unethical at the time but nothing was ever made of it.

It's still a terrible stadium for football though, that will never change as long as that athletics track has to stay.
