I don’t really like the fact they have been given the audio recordings either.

Just doesn’t sit right with me.

And refs are gonna be afraid to give stuff against them now.

Well that's a precedent that's now been set, so every club can now demand, and expect to receive the var audio recordings.
They should've been told to fuck off and let the conspiracy nuts lose their shit.

This is what I don’t like about it.

Transparency can be good but we’re going really over the top here and not appreciating officials can also be humans.

Adds to the blame culture we have developed, where people can be so self-righteous in pointing out others mistakes as of course they never make any themselves.

This should have been dealt with internally.

We’ll get to a stage where people don’t want to officiate anymore with the grief.

Can’t remember who it was against but I remember Sonny being immediately flagged offside after breaking clear, (TV relays showed he was clearly on side) but the referee blew and the free kick was given.

That could potentially have lead to a goal for us had play continued.

Half the time we get players playing on for ages and the flag eventually goes up and the other half of the time the flag goes up straight away.

We might as well stop linesmen flagging for offside at all and let VAR sort it out if a gaol is scored.

Just let play continue with offsides unless a goal is scored.

A quick question...I've just made a significant human error. I've just got to the cinema and realized that I've left my glasses at home. Do they have replay the film for me tomorrow?

Yes but only the second half and in an empty cinema

And...

Liverpool probably shouldn't have been awarded the free-kick that led to the VAR offside incident.

Curtis could easily have been booked prior to his red card, for a cynical tactical foul to stop a Spurs counter, so could have deservedly been sent off even if only a yellow card was given for studding someone halfway up their shin (which is the very definition of the "serious foul play" rule, so should always be a straight red). This has gone unmentioned in the media and Klopp's complaints have gone largely unchallenged.

Jota committed two offences that could each have been a yellow card on another day (and certainly were worthy of a booking cummulatively). His first booking was a clear straight yellow, not for report fouling, so that should have been his second yellow. Any argument about whether his second booking was actually a foul is moot - he should already have been off. Again, this has gone unmentioned in the media and Klopp's complaints have gone largely unchallenged.

Many incorrect offside and penalty decisions are made every season. This one decision matters though , because it went against Liverpool.

Can you imagine how much they’d have gone on about the robbery of the CL final if it had been their player giving away the ridiculously poorly officiated penalty inside a minute to destroy the tie?

Yeah me too.

I would say 95% of the Liverpool fans I know or have interacted with still swear blind it’s a penalty, even if you show them the still where it’s hitting his armpit/shoulder.

I’d also say 95% of them say the Jones tackle wasn’t a red, about 50% still claim Jota didn’t touch Udogie for the first booking (and refuse to acknowledge that a player can’t dive in when on a booking even if the first one is unlucky) and about 50% are still claiming the Gomez ‘pen’. It is definitely the most delusional fan base I speak to, far worse than arsenal or United for that sort of thing

Well, that should put an end to the corruption accusation. That's clearly just a failure to accurately communicate. Seemed unnecessarily rushed and there was clear panic immediately as the game restarted.

Not sure how many different voices I heard but there didn't seem to be any kind of process of confirmation of the decision between either the VAR officials in the room, or the Var officials and the pitch. Just a desire to get things moving as quickly as possible.

Interesting. At 22 seconds Assistant Referee 2 (Assistand Referee 1 is the one 'in play' in the attacking half) says "Give it". Have the VAR room heard that and assumed that was the words of the 'in play' AR1? Is that why they thought they were confirming the goal with 'check complete'?

Why was AR2 getting involved in something he clearly couldn't see properly?

Lucky we got that ball into play nice and sharpish with the freekick, eh? Too soon?
Yeah if that cock up had happened in a Sheffield Utd game they would have had plenty of opportunity to clear things up!

In fact I bet we see some players taking their time over some restarts this weekend as they ask the ref “are you sure?” after any VAR stoppages! We’re the lunchtime kick off so I hope it’s Maddison who does it!!
