Luckiest team when it comes to injuries in the past few years (if we don't count Ramos taking Salah out of CL final), they have good depth too but you always lose something when you lose a world class player like Mane. Their WBs entered a bad form at the same time, they will be fine soon but hopefully drop few more points. Once everyone returns, especially Jota, they will score 3 goals per game.

Are teams now using our blueprint of the 2 all draw at Anfield last season as to how to play against them?

Madrid did similar in the CL final and others have done it this season.

Klopp is clever enough to change things up though. I wouldn’t write them off just yet.

Their defending has been absolutely woeful the last 3 games. TAA, Robertson, VVD all been well below their expected levels. TAA especially for me has been just awful.

the first goal yesterday was just dreadful. simple and predictable give and go but TAA just stood there. long may it continue.

Lots of people on here are confusing TAA with a defender, he’s not, he’s a good footballer but his defending is awful.
Every goal Liverpool have conceded this season has come through the right channel with TAA missing!

He's not just a good footballer, he is absolutely incredible with the ball at his feet. Second best passer/crosser of the ball in the league (to de Bruyne).

The second goal last night had nothing to do with Trent.

Agree. Yet the first one had everything to do with him not tracking a basic run on a give and go, added to vvd's ridiculous hesitation of course.

Where was Rashford when he ran on to the ball, on the right side of the defence, where was TAA, probably watching like he normally does when defending is needed.
Passer/ crosser, what’s that got to do with defending? The point is Rashford ran on to the ball from the right back position with no one near him, Trent was missing again!

It sounds like Klopp is being a bit Pochettino and only wants to sign what he sees as perfect players.
With the difference that Liverpool have tended to get those players if they wait.

so can understand why he might wait for Bellingham etc but probably didn’t account for the squad he has tailing off / starting so badly

Their midfield looks a weak link especially

Losing Mane could be their Dembele moment.

They really don't look right.

Not getting over the line in the PL and CL, playing as many games at the intensity they play at, I think we're seeing some burn out not only physically but mentally as well.

Neville and Carragher go on about Conte being so intense for a couple of seasons before players can't do it anymore but Klopp is very similar. He's had some good longevity at Liverpool but they're stagnating when you look at their squad
Mane really isn't an easy player to replace

He's one of those players who seems like a wide player, has strength, brilliant movement, can score headers, can be a poacher, can play on the shoulder and runs all game.

A seriously good player.

None of the players they've signed can do all that.

Diaz isn't a poacher, he's more of a cut in and finish type.

Nunez has superb movement and is more of a poacher/off the shoulder but his heading is poor and he isn't as polished as Mane was - he isn't an excellent dribbler.

Jota is more of a poacher with excellent movement and good hold up, but isn't as quick or strong as Mane.

I think it'll take a little while for Klopp to understand how to use them all effectively.

But his team wasn't defending, they gave away the ball needlessly and United countered, Trent's asked to play high up, if the CM's give the ball away twice in the space of 15 seconds and Trent is caught up field that's not his fault.

It seems nothing is his fault with you…….because……"because………because! The fact, that, Zaha, Rashford, Mitrovic all ran through that side of the defence means he has to take some responsibility for the fact, he’s classed as a defender! The other 2 goals Liverpool have conceded, have been down to him personally, even when Utd hit the post in the first half he was 40 yards up the pitch, and, the player he was supposed to cover was in 30 yards of space.

Zaha ran directly through the middle of the two centre backs, I will not acknowledge that Trent is to blame for that one, no. When Eze went past Fabinho (with ease), Trent was about 50 yards from Zaha, please explain how this is his fault.

He had a part to play in the first goal last night for sure, as did Milner, as did VVD.

He was at fault for the first goal vs Fulham because Mitrovic rose above him at the back post, he will not be the only full back that Mitrovic does that to this season, but yes that was his fault although he can't be accused of not tracking back because he was there.

The second goal vs Fulham, Mitrovic was fouled by VVD, if he hadn't made contact with him then Mitrovic would have turned straight into the path of Trent who would have tackled him with ease and cleared the danger, he was the furthest back at the point the penalty was given so I don't understand how he can be accused of not tracking back in this scenario, please explain.

So in total he's at fault for one goal, he's partially to blame for another. They've conceded 5 goals this season already, and VVD is to blame for an equal amount, is he also a bad defender?

Do they need to be concerned with the age of the squad? I have no idea how that stacks up against the other top clubs.

They will recover, they have 9 injuries and its really affecting them.

People are so quick to jump on the bandwagon that they're regressing etc which may have some truth, isn't the key factor.

No other side the league could cope with 9 injuries.

If we had 2 key forwards out, 3 midfielders, 3 CBs out how bad would we look? City have 16 first team players, they'd hugely struggle. No side could cope with that at all.

This Liverpool team were always going to struggle at some point, I think its probably happening sooner than expected.

Think they will pull together and do ok this season.

I've already asked this question, sort of, but didn't get an answer........ How on earth do you get 3 games into the season and have 9 injuries to your first team squad? It's more than just bad luck surely?

They're having an off-year from the PEDs. Like when you leave a field fallow
