It's their transfer strategy I'm envious of. Each signing/media link fits a specific profile, gets signed early for a decent preseason and they never scrabble around on the last day of the window trying to fill glaring gaps.

The players themselves might not live up to the hype, but that's football. Their transfer strategy is clear, precise and sorted by July. Ours is slow, random and we waste a lot of time chasing shadows.
If their strategy is so good, and ours is so poor, why do we keep finishing above them?

They need a decent keeper and another top notch centre back. Paying that money for Fekir (haven't yet) will mean no keeper or CB of any decent quality..which I'll be happy with.

I'm referring to their clear change in transfer direction under Michael Edwards since 2016. In just 2 years they have massively closed the gap between us, signed a 40m record breaking player in Salah and reached a CL final. He's done some good work and we'd do well to follow that lead instead of pat ourselves on the back for scraping a superior league position.

But this amazing strategy of theirs has yielded them fuck all, on a tangible scale...why is that something to be envious of?
Is it just the fact they're spending 50 odd million on each signing, or is it because theyre buying players everyones heard of ? is that what you're envious of?

As is said earlier, their league position isnt improving, and they got very lucky draws in the champions league....they played one decent team all the way to the final.
Im honestly struggling to see what's to be envious of.

Let me put it this way: if Poch had a head of recruitment like Edwards with some proper backing from Levy we would be fucking miles ahead of them... And maybe we would have something tangible to show for our efforts.

Klopp is better supported by his club than Poch is, yet fails to finish above us due to his stubbornness and inferior coaching.

They also had holes in their squad, poor wing backs easy to upgrade, poor CD easy to upgrade but still need depth, poor keepers still haven't fixed. Their shining light has been their front 3 yet they still have nothing outside them. Had they kept coutinho they may have finished above us and won the CL

If you haven't noticed we've been building a £1bn stadium. This has meant that funds for players has been limited.

It's not as if we've spent zero. Lots of reactive opportunistic end of window signings - not all cheap either! With our revenue exponentially increasing, the highest ST prices in the league and our manager publicly demanding 'bravery' - time to stop making excuses I reckon!

Well maybe wait until the end of the window before becoming jealous.

Every summer it is the same our fans get jealous of liverpools signings start predicting us to finish 6th and them to challenge for the league, yet we finish above them. Every fucking summer for 8 years it really is getting boring.

So many bedwetters in this thread. Who cares who Liverpool have signed? Maybe, just maybe wait until the transfer window closes in August before you collectively soil yourselves.

Where did I say I'm jealous of their signings? I just wish we did our business earlier and got players in for the Poch preseason. I think Liverpool do that really well, doesn't mean I'm going to get a season ticket at Anfield and start signing petitions against Ramos.

I wish we addressed issues in our squad by profiling the required characteristics and outlining a plan A,B & C instead of seeing what's up for grabs at the end of the window and hoping they fit the system.

I think we did very well at Wembley to be honest and dont see that as an excuse for where we finished the season. I could be wrong but i would hazard a guess that we actually did better there than away( could be wrong to lazy to check).

I think they did great considering they lost their talisman Coutinho. Many on here predicted they would fall apart.

However your point is valid that they had a lower points total than the season before... Same applies to us though. Lets hope that our business in the transfer window coupled with being back home at WHL.. Ensues that we still continue that dominance.

Yes we did do well that wembley, but we would have done better if we were at whl and the reduced total points in comparison to last season would have been because we were at wembley, where some teams totally upped their game because of where the game was, something that would not have happened if we were at whl.

And although Liverpool coped very well without coutinho, they proved their main man was salah as alot of times whem he was either subbed or didn't play their performances went down. When kane was injured this season for example we won all our games.

You're right! How did you learn the secret that all of our players have been purchased by a combination of a Ouija board and drawing out random Scrabble tiles from a bag. Levy will then tries to purchase the player, but in order to appease the Ba'al the Storm God (the arcane entity to whom he sold his soul), he has to wait until 23:59 on the last day of the window before making his opening bid of 50p and a half eaten bag of Cheesy Wotsits.

Please keep it to yourselves though and I think the ensuing scandal could be very damaging for the club...

I remember last summer many saying we finish 5th. Trust Poch. He signed an extension. There was no gun to his head. If anything, Poch would have had the gun to Levy's head.
