This is the thing, he really isn’t - no excuses on this behaviour though

It is unbelievable that to this day people still put this shit onto social media.

Anyone with any intelligence would know there would be a lot of negative backlash.

You are probably right that he is a nice kid. Given his age I would hope people would lay off him and not tarnish him forever.

But given how vicious and unforgiving people are now I don’t see that happening.

Why are people getting so wound up over what some trumped up little 16 year old did on a media platform?

He's mugged himself off/been mugged off, he'll learn.

When i was a kid i did much worse. I was pissed off about it when i saw it yesterday, but that's cause Kane's one of us.
If he had done it to another teams player i wouldn't give a shit. Kids do dumb, insensitive shit all the time.
Listening to the conversation my son has while playing xbox would have the PR brigade up in arms. I reprimand him, but know it's all harmless bullshit.
Kids just chatting shit, and doing dumb things. What else is new.

I think it's because to mock a person as if they were disabled is an absolutely disgusting thing to do. My boys are 7 and 5 and would know to never do that.

Secondly, and separately, Harry Kane is one of the best strikers England have had. He's a consummate professional and absolutely the person, not just the player, that dick heads like this guy should really be aspiring to. Somehow it seems no surprise that he plays for Liverpool, particularly after the disrespect some if their senior players showed Harry after that goal which he claimed.

I don't care that he's 16, mocking a disability is fucking revolting. That's why I'm wound up.

Okay, getting wound up here won't change any of the above.

At least your lads won't ever be like it.

He very clearly is? 16 is old enough to know not to call people "fucking mongs". If he thinks that was funny or a good idea - he's a little dickhead. Doesn't matter if you know his old man or something.
I tend to judge people when I’ve met them, not when dicking around with school mates over social media.

As for the video, inexcusable truth be told, but I’m not going to hang a 16 yr old kid out to dry because of it.

It doesn't matter what you tend to do. I doubt the kid is going to be screaming about somebody calling them a "fucking mong" when you're standing right there, especially when you're what? 6 foot 6? 210lbs? He's hardly going to show what a little prick he is in front of you, is he?

if I’m judging someone then of course it matters what I do.

As I said, the video is absolutely dickish, it’s kids stuff and he’s gotta deal with the repercussions of it.

I know you're not defending him but it's remarkably poor judgement of a kid who has lived with social media pretty much his entire life and who must have at some point seen how bad the repercussions can get when you post stupid comments, videos and what have you. Not to mention insulting the England captain of the sport you are one of the nation's biggest talents in, a player you will meet one day and probably sooner rather than later.

And it's not as if he can blame it on alcohol either.

I can only guess thay Shanks knows him personally and is speaking from his own experience.

However, I think he's shown his true colours here. (Not Shanks obviously, Elliot (y))

Don’t disagree in the slightest.
He’s embarrassed himself, his family and all sorts.

He played in same groups/teams as my boy (older obviously).
So whilst I never knew him personally, polite and hard working indeed, which is why it’s disappointing to see... I give my own boy lessons on social media, constantly drilling it into him - he still acts like a dick, teenagers typically are (my son this is and probably all teenage boys).

Outside of football, it’s a very strange world these days for kids growing up...

Moving away from Elliott debate for a sec, interesting to see how Liverpool do this season as they’re in similar situation to what we were last season now with Salah, Mane and Firminio having been in a competitive tournament over the summer and possibly fatigued already, like we were with all our England lot after the World Cup.

They don’t often know what they are saying. It’s shocking.

Of the players that would have appeared in a good percentage of fans' "strongest XI" this time last year, Lloris, Trippier, Toby, Jan, Rose, (Dembélé), Dier, Dele and Kane were all at the World Cup until the very end. That's mad. Almost as mad as the fact that the popular belief seems to be that the second half of the season fatigue was entirely down to the fact that we didn't sign anyone.

Am I right in thinking Liverpool have made no first team signings this summer?

Even the apology was bullshit though:

"The video was taken whilst messing around with friends in a private environment and was not directed at any individual."

It was clearly aimed at Kane.

It's "lad" behaviour unfortunately.
