No chance they need a CF and are pushing ffp limits themselves. The only English clubs able to spend like that right now are ourselves, Pool and City. No chance any of those 3 are going to spend that kind of money on Palmer.
I guess that depends on who the new manager at Liverpool is, if they think Palmer is the missing piece of the puzzle I could see it.

They will probably hire Alonso and prioritise a CB though I would have thought.

No way Alonso touches that job with a barge pole, even if they trebled his current wages from a career perspective it’d actually be a step backwards for him.
That’s before we even look at any potential points deduction or relegation that might be coming,
Alonso either stays put or goes to the bin dippers in the summer.

Believe trix is talking about buying clubs being under (chelsea are definitely well over). For example if they want Gallagher, unless they are well under the limit now and can afford Gallagher, they will just wait until after the cut off so it is included in next year's books.

yeah but I’m saying if you could afford Gallagher in this year’s books you’d prefer to do that I would think

I think he’s saying Alonso might want to sign Palmer when he goes to manage Liverpool

Yeah mate that's what trix and I are saying. But he's saying most clubs can't afford it before the cut off. He's saying unless they can afford it in this financial window, they will wait til the following which hurts chelsea

Was talking about Alonso going to Liverpool not Chelsea.

Yeah true only a few clubs (ourselves included) could do deals before the cutoff so Chelsea may have no choice but to sell to us 😁

Yeah I kind of agree, and see your rationale. But should Arsenal find the money it would be peak Arsenal to buy another player like Palmer when what they need is a striker

It's based over a 3 year period so it doesn't quite work like that. The point is even if you have the money, and very few clubs do, you are certainly going to be looking to get him at much below the traditional market value. Chelsea have to sell, and there are very few buyers, then factor in which clubs the likes of Gallagher would actually accept a transfer to and you've cut the numbers of potential clubs again.

I'd be looking to offer them £15mil now as an absolute maximum tbh.

Poch is really up against it there. Chelsea really stacked up on young expensive midfielders but are average at the back and front and lack any sort of leadership and resilience as a team. He may not last much longer, but to do so he needs Nkunku to sort his fitness out and somehow get this side to play like a team. Even then, they'll be well behind their support's hilarious expectations.

it beggars belief that they could have been so stupid to have got themselves into this position, having spent circa £1 billion in 3 transfer windows buying a squad that is imbalanced, not good enough and with gaping holes, particularly up front to say nothing of the PSR / FFP implications.

Oh Dear
How sad
Never mind

;)

The thing that gets me is that Todd Boehly and the rest of them are quite obviously not stupid people - to have accumulated such wealth they cannot be dummies.

But part of being “clever” is knowing what you dont know - arrogance seems to have got the better of them.

with the undisclosed, under the table payments from the Abramovich era also hanging over them, I hope the EPL absolutely destroys them as a football club and sends them down 4 divisions

actually, i think i know a lot of stupid people who made a lot of money in the banking world, he may be smart in his world but football is very different and the market can change very fast like it has.

Why are they angry at Poch not the idiot who spent a billion on players?
