Thought Jackson and Dsasi looked very good, insane that they can just keep buying players to replace the players they just bought, what he’s out two weeks? We’ll just buy another 50m player to replace him… only a matter of time before they are back challenging, looks like that new game changing FFP plan of Dan’s is a pipe dream as things are getting worse if anything…

Such weird pricing and maybe another 50M on Lavia. Takes the pressure off Enzo now, no longer the most expensive signing, potentially!

Just checked the Guardian transfer tracker for Chelsea. 28 departures, 8 of those for fees that bring in 215.1M
5 loans, 7 released, 8 free transfers - this group includes some strategic loans for young guys, plus the likes of Azpilicueta, Kante, Bakayoko!, Aubameyang.

They have 8 incoming, 6 for fees that cost 183.1M. plus two young fellas for free or joining in a year. Caicedo adds another 100 to 115M ["Chelsea have thrashed out a deal that will see them pay £100m plus £15m in performance-related add-ons"]

So the net spend is 68M, including Caicedo. Not that outlandish for this one window, albeit lots of transactions and the cumulative record of Boehly must be quite a deficit.

who have they sold that gets £215m ???

my money is on Poch being sacked by xmas

It's years of taking the piss. And the current set up seems to continue the trend !
They just have no credibility. Hoping they fail for years to come!

Absolutely ridiculous. Prices like these are plain mad. Average players will now be Worth 70m minimum. Mind blowing and surely unsustainable.

It’s the old abrahmovich tactic of driving up prices in the market so other clubs can’t afford the players.

I mean, you could just look yourself, but here:
Havertz 60M
Mount 55M
Kovacic 25M
Koulibaly 20M
Pulisic 17.1M
Mendy 16M
Loftus cheek 15M
Ampadu 7M

And Poch is a very good football man and leader, so I reckon you'll be a little poorer on Boxing day

The most bonkers thing for me about this Caicedo deal is the length of his contract 8 years. If he has the misfortune to have a bad injury which then affects his footballing ability they still have to pay him for years and years.

There is likely to be an insurance policy in place, albeit a very expensive one.

FFP stands for Fuck Football Pay me. It's a racket for the FIFA and UEFA officials to demand bribes from the billionaires under the guise of "fines".

I hate them with a passion, but they are a well oiled machine when it comes to transfers - all the practice I suppose!

they are the opposite of Levy, just pay over teh top and get it done, sadly it has got them success,

i don't see how they will not get in trouble for FFP at some point!

i know they have sold £200 million this TW but they have still spent a tonne and there wages must be insane

Are they?

I think they're a shambolic mess, over paying and overspending. It seems like there is no plan.
But they also frequently get top money for their surplus players. Also, the sheer volume of players they get through means they must have a very well organised back office function - not something that I think can be said for us. Not a complaint, just an observation.

When you say top money, they are still selling at a loss

Koulibaly cost 37m eur. They sold for 23m eur.

They are about to sign caiceido, which puts them at a negative return this season. Throw in 600m spent, they will be at -680m by the close of the transfer window.

They were already 240m below the Premier league financial sustainability target. They need to be punished for breaching the rules.

I don’t see how anyone can compete with their spending, or rather the spending of the financially doped clubs. Even Liverpool and United are struggling to keep up with it.

I'm obviously not explaining myself. It always feels like it takes roughly 4 million years for us to push through a single transfer, in that time Chelsea have bought and sold roughly 2 teams worth of players!

FFP has no teeth and as long as a club isn't going to go bust, then nobody cares as far as I can see.

I think they are certainly testing the water.

I mean the rule is:

"allow clubs to lose a maximum UK£105 million (US$129 million) over a three-year period or face sanctions, which include points deductions for serious breaches."

I'd think 600m should be deemed a serious breach.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out.
