If this is true then we are fucked!! Midfield of Kranjcar - Sandro - Jenas - Pienaar!

Long term injuries to these two will be close to disastrous - Modric because he is our best player and Lennon because there is no one who can naturally play on the right. Worrying news...

Which would still be stronger than two thirds of the teams in the premier league.

But point taken, given the way tonights results are going, a stronger / more creative midfield would be nice in order to keep pace, so hopefully these rumours aren't true.

Good point, its just that would be all of our first team midfield would be out, Bale - Hudd - Luka - Lennon! I cant believe how many injuries we have!! (If true of course!!)

Operated on for appendicitis: Modric returned for decade

Luka Modric is due to appendicitis and surgery will not be competing for a meeting with the Czech Republic, writes web-site of the Croatian Football Federation.

According to recent information provided by the medical service of the Croatian national team, Luka Modric Laparoscopic successfully operated, removed his inflamed appendix (appendicitis) about 21 hours over on Tuesday evening. According to forecasts of Croatian physicians, if there is an additional complication, Luke is back in training for ten days.

Unfortunately, now it is quite likely that there will not be competing for a friendly encounter with Czech Republic, which will be played next week in Pula.

Problem is these injuries are coming at precisely the wrong time of the season with us in danger of losing pace with the top 4 and the Champions League ties with AC Milan so without trying to be pessimistic but our season could effectively be over in a very short space of time.

Holy shit, embarrassed in the Cup, no striker on deadline day and now two of our best players out - all in 3 days.

If Palacios is out as well we are well and truly fucked.

Assuming its VdV and Modric out a midfield and forward line (in current form couldnt call them 'strikeforce') of:

Lennon Jenas Sandro Pienaar
Defoe Crouch

Would like to see Niko play, think he is more creative than Pienaar and we will need that if Modric and VdV are missing, but to be fair to SP he was one of the only ones on sunday who I thought deserved any credit so should keep his place. Lennon needs to have a big game.

I agree with you, I thought SP was the one positive on Sunday.

Lennon, Palacios, Jenas and Pienaar is still a pretty decent midfield.

Pav and Defoe up top.

Fuck, I hope he's (Modric) fit for the CL. All of a sudden it's become more of a priority, now qualification through the league is looking harder.

We just need to try and grind out results over the next few games - tough away games at Blackburn and Sunderland with Bolton at home sandwiched in between we really need to look at a minimum of 5 points with an optimistic 7. Truth is I don't think any of these will be classics nor particularly great performances but points on the board are the priority of the day.

think we have much better chance of finishing 4th than we do winning the champions league
